  1. You are making sense, I just didn't see them. If I get bored tomorrow or Thursday Ill take a couple pics to show what I see.
  2. For reference, this is the exact one I got. This is the craigslist post. Link could go dead any time, FYI. http://asheville.craigslist.org/pts/3757573717.html
  3. Hey all, I purchased a (factory?) brush guard last week and was installing it this past weekend, and ran into a problem. The bottom mounts to the frame just fine, but upon popping out the fog lights on the bumper and looking inside, I saw no place for the bumper mounts to mount up to. Is the solution to just drill holes and mount it up? Or am I missing something. I have a 93 Pathfinder SE, but the front bumper came off a 93 XE (if that makes ANY sort of difference). I left it at home and plan on working on it when I return home at the end of the week. FYI, it came off a 91 Pathfinder with no special fabricated mounts.
  4. Agreed with Nunya. Found one that had an interior rack and IMO it looks stupid. Too much space taken up, etc. The rack on the back is nice for many things. I've got a jerry can that I'll be installing on it this summer, and if the $$ comes through, maybe I'll have a HAM radio antenna mounted to it as well.
  5. Mine strangely did this due to the air filter being dirty, full of dust, etc. Ran way too rich when idling and would die. I'm glad it was an easy fix but definitely not what I expected! Cleaning the MAF takes all of 10 mins too.
  6. Trogdor, Yeah it's a pain getting into my girlfriends driveway when backing in at night, but that's what I use my brake light for!
  7. Went fishing and digging in the fender walls for that socket. Appears to me that someone may have cut and rewired the rear brake lights because the red wire that's currently plugged in with the bundle of other wires attached to the brake light socket is cut. NC Inspection doesn't require reverse lights to be working IIRC, so I'm not too concerned about it. I typically back into my parking spots to begin with.
  8. I was looking for some parts for the Pathfinder on eBay and ran across this... Anyone running one of these in their vehicle successfully? Or any other chips? I'd love to see 3-5 MPG increase if that's possible. Here's the link: http://www.ebay.com/itm/PERFORMANCE-AND-FUEL-ECONOMY-CHIP-FOR-NISSAN-GAIN-MPG-/190810947581?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&fits=Year%3A1993%7CMake%3ANissan%7CModel%3APathfinder&hash=item2c6d37fffd&vxp=mtr
  9. Yep, that's the plan! 2 birds with one stone!
  10. Yeah, I should have been more suspicious at O'Reilly when I went to get all the fluids a few months ago. He didn't seem to have much of a clue to begin with.. Just ordered the Pennzoil Synchromesh. Was going to cost $75 on amazon for 6 quarts, but I went to advance auto and found that they had a quart priced at $8-9. Much cheaper than what amazon said. I also entered 2 promo codes which reduced it to a total of $35 for the 6 quarts plus a hand pump. $15 for tax and shipping made it a lot less overall than redline. Once the fluid comes in, I'll probably spend an afternoon replacing the fluid and putting in the new console.
  11. Reviewed the Material Test Sheet, and it said "Meets all GL standard............... ...GL-5,.... Didn't see anything for GL-4. Might as well keep searching the internet for options. Fluid will be changed Saturday!
  12. For reference, this is what's currently in there. Did not overfill it (didn't hear about the TSB until afterwards). If this is considered "okay" then I might just buy another bottle and fill from the top, which would save a lot of $$. Let me know. http://shop.advanceautoparts.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/product_synthetic-sae-75w-90-transmission-and-differential-lube-(32-oz-)-lucas-oil-products_7070037-p
  13. Hey all, Looking for transmission gear oil. I put in some new stuff a few months ago, but was told by another member that the fluid I put in may not be GL-4 fluid. I know Redline is the top choice, but I'd need to buy 6 quarts of it to completely overfill (and I've have some extra leftover) the trans, and that's $100 that I really can't spend this minute. Are there any other choices? I've googled on the shopping tab and found redline products but not much else, if anything. Everything else didn't specify GL-4. Links would be appreciated. Thanks.
  14. Excellent, thanks for the input thus far. B, is weatherstripping that hard to install? What am I missing? And yes, for some reason I have no reverse lights. A couple weeks ago, a lady told me that. Bulbs are easy to do, so I looked and saw nothing in the reverse light section of the tailight. Going to download the FSM at some point soon, thanks! Also, the engine bay is really messy due to the snow/salt that has gotten in since the skid plate fell off when I was playing in 12" deep snow. Just want to clean it off, I've tried with the garden hose to not much avail, but I figured pressure washing it may help. The console I bought was from a member on here and he informed me of what all is needed to swap.
  15. Hey all, I've got a longer than expected spring break ahead, so I'm going to tackle some tasks that need to be done on my Pathfinder. I'm starting this post so that I don't have to litter the forums with multiple posts if I have issues. It just works out in a cleaner manner. Found a Nissan Salvage Yard not too far from the house so I'm extremely excited to pick it apart. Here's the to-do list: 1. Install new skid plate (shouldn't be an issue) 2. Oil/Filter change (not a problem) 3. Maxima Alternator Swap: (From what I can tell, this just requires me to get one, test it, replace the pulley on it with the pathfinder pulley, and then bolt it on... What year of Maximas should I look at? I'm going for the 90amp) 4. Gates belts on power steering, AC, and alt. (no problem!) 5. Replace rear weatherstripping (not an issue) 6. Fix Door handle (I need to pop the panel off and fix the interior driver side handle, as I have to pull multiple times for it to open.. I may not fix it due to other reasons listed below). 7. Clean headlight housing lenses (Is it as easy as just popping the clips and wiping down the lenses?) 8. Aim Headlights (did a forum post on it weeks ago so I shouldn't have many issues). 9. Rotate tires (Goodyear does that for free!) 10. Repair reverse lights (this is the biggest issue... There are no bulbs/sockets in place of where the reverse lights are. I don't see the sockets or wiring anywhere in fender area.. Do I need to run wiring to sockets, etc? Biggest issue that I may not be able to do alone). 11. Console switch (changing from the WD21 to R50 console, shouldn't be too labor intensive). 12. Trans Fluid overfill (I'm replacing the current fluid with Redline MT-90. Going to fill from the top by the shifter... may need help and guidance with this) 13. Paint rear bumper (easy) 14. Pressure wash engine bay (never have done it, is it okay to do so?) 15. Clean cargo pad 16. Find matching color driver door and fender at JY and install on vehicle (never have done it before, what kind of tools should I need?) That's about it. Lots to do, but most should be easy. If you have any suggestions on streamlining the process at all, or have any good insight, let me know. I'll post here if I need some help. Thanks!
  16. I run the regular size Goodyear Wrangler Radials. Cost me about $88 per tire due to a discount sale, but they typically run around $99 p/t. Excellent tires, road noise isn't bad, I do go off road for some light duty 4x4 stuff and it did very well (never got stuck) plus put it in 2WD and still didn't get stuck in the mudholes. I live up in the mountains and often go out to measure snow for the Weather Service, and during the snowfall that hit us during Hurricane Sandy, I drove just fine through 1 foot of snow on untreated roads. If you're more into offroading, get a better tire, but this one suits me well for the majority of highway driving plus a little offroading and storm hunting.
  17. Excellent, I'll add that to my Spring Break worklist!
  18. Ive recently had a hard time getting out of my pathfinder due to the door handle not opening the door until the 5th or 12th pull. I think the cable is stretched, am I able to remove the door panel and tighten the cable or do I have to replace an entire assembly?
  19. This is what I used. Ive considered draining it out and additional Redline MT90 http://www.lucasoil.com/products/display_products.sd?iid=47&catid=12&loc=show
  20. TC, yeah thankfully I made sure to use GL4! Pure luck.. I havent overfilled yet because I wasnt aware until after fluids were changed. I dont drive enough while at school to worry, but in March when I replace the console to an R50 console, I plan on filling it up from the top.
  21. I was getting 15 MPG on the highway with my mobile weather station mounted on the roof. Since I dumped some techron in the tank and took the mobile station down to reduce drag, I've noticed a jump up to 17.5-18. I plan to clean the MAF soon too, so hopefully that'll get me to between 19-20 on Hwy and 18 around the city. Would be nice to get 400 miles out of a tank again. I do need to check the speedometer though, I set the cruise at 70 on an hour long trip on the highway and passed 2 cars, and had dozens pass me (mind you, the speed limit was 65) so either everyone was in a rush or the speedo is off. Need to check on that. I've taken the Pathy to 100mph and likely beyond that on a few occasions. Not for long though, usually less than a half minute. Ive cruised at 85mph for miles with no issues, so long as your tires are properly balanced. If I'm in a fuel saver mode, then I keep it no higher than 68-70mph or under the 3k RPM mark. Don't mean to hijack the thread, but does the tach on the dash show the actual engine RPM's or is it showing what its calculated to be at in a certain gear at a certain speed? Reason I ask is because if my speedo is off, I'm not sure if my tach is spot on either then.
  22. My "power switch" is moving the stick from 5th to 3rd... Nice little kick!
  23. Fluids Engine Oil - Mobil 1 Fully Synthetic (If I can find the high mileage synthetic, I get it) 5W-30 Coolant - Prestone mixed 50-50 ATF - N/A MTF - Gear Oil, Lucas (can't remember the weight) Brake Fluid - Prestone DOT3 Power Steering Fluid - Not sure, will be replacing this summer. Front Diff - 75W-90 Rear Diff - Same as Front Transfer Case - Same as Trans Filters Oil Filter - Fram, sometimes a K&N if I need to go a little over 5k Air Filter - STP In-Cabin Air Filter - Factory or aftermarket (haven't replaced) Fuel Filter - Can't remember the brand, got it from O'Reilly ATF Filter - None Fluids Engine Oil - 4,500-5,500 miles, 4500 on Fram filters, 5500 on K&N filters Coolant - Every 36 months or as needed ATF - MTF - Just changed, going to do after 28k Brake Fluid - Whenever it runs low (I have a SLOW leak somewhere that hasn't been pinpointed) Power Steering Fluid - Never, waiting until summer. Front Diff - 40k Rear Diff - 40k, would do sooner than fron diff if $$ is an issue. Transfer Case - Every 40k Filters Oil Filter - Whenever oil changes are done Air Filter - Changed original one when engine was running too rich, will replace after 12k or whenever needed before. In-Cabin Air Filter - Never, haven't bothered to look. Fuel Filter - Changed already, probably won't worry about it for a long while (75-100k) ATF Filter - N/A Change intervals
  24. I'm thinking about Rhino lining my pathfinder, but I've been reading online that Line-X is typically cheaper and much lighter overall. Have any of you guys done Rhino lining or line-x to your pathfinders? How much did it cost? I would use it more for hail protection, and also some offroad protection.
