Wait a minute? Was that woman driving that beast? And shame on anyone dumb enough to drag race in the rain.
Yes I believe that was, though it has no bearing on ability or frankly relevance.
And yeah, rain is clearly prime drifting time for my pathy at least...

Any idea if there is a design which would fit under a 4x4parts center skidplate? (Between the skid plate and the "frame")

Sweet! The duratracs are a great tire. What're your plans for the R51? Also, my condolences for being the lone ranger on this section

Looks like that could be sweet, post pics with it on!

The things you guys notice. lol. but yeah it appears to be in 4-lo. maybe they figured, they wrecked it, why not play with it some?
Looking at it more, it may just be 4-hi, but still I find it odd... Other than the crackpipe price and moronic story.
-
The first has some nerve, but that second one is literally IDENTICAL to mine, and I paid $5900 with 70k miles, without a bashed front end. My question is as to why it was put in 4-low....

Also in Russia- drag racing in the rain....

Wow? Dodge Raider? I've forgotten about those. Hey, at least there is a truck out there with a smaller aftermarket than our Pathy's.
It's actually a Pajero, and they have a huge aftermarket. In their heyday of the 90s they finished and won the Dakar Rally many times over- not disposable at all. Here in The States they're sold as the Montero, and have a considerably larger aftermarket than the Pathys. Factory equipped with a rear locker and 1 ton axles, they're quite an excellent expo rig. (I know because a Monty was my backup from the Pathfinder )
Sorry that was my OCD kicking in

I appreciate your response. DId you have to use an adapater for that stereo? It seems to be double din, that's obviously what I'm looking for. I just wonder how much of a hassle it is to bi-pass the amp etc. Ideally I'd buy some new polks and just upgraded the entire system, it's sound is pretty inferior to my last vehicle which had stock Rockford fosgate speakers with a small sub. I don't plan on going trail riding. I do plan to go camping/fishing with all the great spots around me to do so.
I used both the dash adapter for a double DIN, and an adapter to connect to my factory speakers. I say you upgrade the speakers while you're in there, it makes things easier from what I understand.

I love the pearl, one classy ride! Anyway, welcome to NPORA!
In reference to improving your pathy, you've come to the right place to blow money. For the stereo question- I have the Kenwood DBX500BT, which fit into the stock location with no trimming, does bluetooth, pandora, CD, Ipod, aux, whatever, and is adapted to the factory Bose speakers. Their sound quality has improved a bit, and overall I'm very happy with them. However, if you have the $$ you might as well upgrade your speakers, if that is in your ultimate plan.
Here it is
What are your ideas for the pathfinder? Trail riding?

Pretty cool story, I'm just glad it's on the road again, and they're driving it around. Minus a few Deusenbergs, Bugattis, and Ferraris etc, I think every car, no matter how much it's worth should be driven. I love the early body mustangs, even though I'm typically a Mopar guy when it comes to the late 60s.

Better than ending up on Craigslist, it died a noble death, though I would like to see better than being bashed on the same rocks over and over. I'm curious as to what finally killed it.
-
What was the final consensus- just rear spring solutions, front, anything?
-
Heres one that I like.
Sweet jesus, that bumper!!

Holding my tongue, not just to keep friends, but to stay within the rules.

Plans? Please say keeping in an original condition! Pics hide a multitude of sin but looks too there to cut it up into a rod or make it a 'shivers' ratrod.
I'm planning on keeping it original and for the most part leaving it alone. I like the "commercial" truck look, without all the chrome etc. and it's pretty much already there.
I personally hate model A hot rods, so don't fret If I were to hop something up, it'd be a 32 repro with the 5.0 coyote motor or a 49 Merc lead sled.

That looks really nice!
My first VW was 40hp, so I know the pain...
B
Notice the Karmann Ghia across the driveway, it's the other 40 horse unit The old ford has the same top speed too!
That's fantastic! The dash cluster is a work of art! Looks like a modern electrical system with the alternator, is it updated to 12v?
Thank you, and it really is amazing- you actually see the fuel slosh around in the gauge, and the speedo rotates around panoramically. I love it. And I'm not quite sure, though looking at the fixtures I don't think so, it may just be an alternator upgrade from a generator....
I honestly have a lot to read, I know a good amount about aircooled VWs, and obviously Pathfinders and odds and ends, but nothing like this. Learning is always good though!

Pretty cool. There was a MightyCarMods with one versus the Blue Turd, a little Daihatsu these Aussies souped up.

Those years will fit 245/75r16s which correlate to a 30.5" tire. That's what I have in the Toyo Open Country ATIIs.
Off roading isn't solely about ground clearance, I used to think so, but so many trips at my now 9.1" of ground clearance have proved to me that it isn't. Just drive carefully with a brain and the Pathy will pull you through. They are very capable, reliable, comfortable, and a whole lot cheaper than the 4runner. Plus if you get an 01 or above you do earn the VQ which is quite a nice motor, and if I'm not mistaken has about 60hp over the Toyota's 3.4.... something to consider when you're merging on the freeway.
Hardware wise, yes they're at a disadvantage in terms of aftermarket support, BUT the factory components are quite solid, as previously said- 33 spline locking T-Case and rear diff with a 28 spline front axle. Factory equipped with 4.64 gears and a rear diff that's quite stout. Test drive the two and see what you like, what sold me on the Pathy was the motor and how much tighter it felt on the street vs the 4runner, FZJ80 land cruiser, Xterra, and Montero. And the price- I picked mine up for $5900 with 70k miles.

Neat! Going to Japan is pretty high on my bucket list.

When you wish you could find a Nissan patrol to steal parts off of in the US...
Frankly if there was a Patrol in the US, I'd just take the whole thing

So over the weekend, I just picked up another project vehicle- a 1931 Ford Model A pickup. I figured I would share
All the parts on it are original with no rust, so I'm one happy camper. It ran last year, and has a few dimples, but I kinda prefer it since it was designed strictly as a truck afterall.
A blazing 40hp
Original hood ornament
Very tall and skinny tires...
A reproduction gas ration card
Right now I'm seeing if the battery will hold a charge, and I'm going to drain the tank and move up from there.
Hope you enjoyed!

My transmission does that exact thing, it seems to be pretty normal. Not only that but some delayed engagement/slipping in shifting from 1-2 and sometimes 2-3 is well documented on this forum and also very normal. It's not a ticking time bomb haha
Meanwhile, in Russia ..

Well the equivalent male would probably have to re-slick his hair... but I agree some racing equipment would have been nice to see. At least she seemed relatively unaffected- especially assuming it was doing at least 80 by that point.
