  1. I ran mine through the firewall somewhere near the glove box, pulled up some of the carpet on the passenger side in the front and I believe I tried to follow the harness that was there a bit. It got tight by the passenger seatbelt anchor, but other than that everything went pretty easily and I didn't have too much of an idea as to what i was doing... Just don't forget to run the RCA cables the first time like i did! I mounted the mono amp on the back of the rear seat, driver's side. I'd be glad to help if you run into any trouble with pics if i can. '95 XE
  2. Yeeeah i guess for a little while there i was a less bright version of the people running around with HIDs and no projectors -which happens to be one of my biggest pet peeves- Haha ok well if those are the necessary measures for getting in there I'll deal until i get E-Codes or something. Thanks for the info!
  3. I've actually been to the place they make that monstaliner and from what i could tell they definitely try to keep overhead costs down and their products seem to be of very good quality. I used their chassis saver (similar to por-15) on my frame and its holding up really well from what i can tell, and my friend used red monstaliner on the floorpan of his jeep about a year ago and that stuff is really intact as well. Don't know of anyone that's done it on the outside though. let us know if/what you end up doing!
  4. Well I do now, lol note that due to the arrangement of the picture some wires are not to scale. The three wires going to the passenger side headlight are about 2-3 feet long, the driver's side are about 5. (My relays have two 87 pins each.) modified image from Daniel Stern Lighting, for educational purposes only.
  5. Ah i meant cleaning the inside, i can make out a tiiny bit of moisture and dust woulnt think enough to make a difference And on the lights theyre actually excellent bulbs, tiny bit of blue coating only at the very end ive read it is one of the best options for 9004s along with the NightHawks As for the different lengths, the weird part is that side has a much SHORTER set of wires as its close to the battery. 12ga everywhere including the inline fuse and pigtails on the socket and grounds directly to negative on the battery
  6. So i just switched from the stupid 9007 bulbs and made a new relay harness (came out really good actually might post about it haha) Switching back to legal & safe 9004s, philips vision plus. Ive noticed my passenger side always seems to throw a much less bright, less white light. This was the case with the 9007s and i figured it was just a bad ground from my old harness. The weird thing is that the problem persisted when i took out the relays and went back to the stock wiring. And now, even with a newly made harness and bulbs, that headlight seems to still be duller. I tested GE Nighthawk platinums and they did the same thing too. I do have those angry eye things spraypainted onto my glass lens, but would this cause it to look a little yellow? I'm considering taking them out and trying to clean the inside of the lenses, has anyone done this before? (They dont look like theres much of anything in there but i figured it coulnt hurt) Another thought was that maybe its just due to the different beam patterns of the right and left lenses... I'll see if i can get it to show up in a picture tomorrow. Any thoughts appreciated!
  7. Ooh I would love to hear about this fan setup haha mine cooks in the summer (zero tint/privacy glass)
  8. Definitely 5 bulbs in my 95. I used 194 style leds, cost $1.39 each. Wouldnt recommend the color i got, it actually is mainly UV light as advertised so you cant really make out the dials too well unless its pretty dark. http://i132.photobucket.com/albums/q6/iTHINKiHAVE_add/7733C1B5-42BF-445B-B238-01FDE4F52EAF-5464-0000021FEEFB6058_zps4660eef4.jpg LED on left, original bulb on the right
  9. Yup! I got some leds off superbriteleds.com and put them in the little twist lock things the old bulbs were mounted to, dimmer still works too. Ill look tomorrow which led i got. The 'bulb finder' didnt show any for the dash. I believe it was five bulbs not including the clock light
  10. Yup. I had a blown bulb that i dissected with a dremel, and used that as an adapter to get the signal from the stock harness to the relay. That way it's all plug and play, no splicing, and should something go wrong you can revert to stock bulbs and wiring at any moment (nifty if youre running overwattage bulbs and get pulled over or sh*t hits the fan offroad) edit: Also, you might want to try using the driver's side bulb; i used the passenger side and its starting to get kind of messy over there with all the wires -but maybe it wouldn't if you take the time to wrap everything up nicely
  11. Yeah i read a whole bunch of why not to do the 9007s but i did it anyway knowing what i was getting into...but one just burnt out today so i switched back to my spare 9004s, gotta aim them waaay up tomorrow lol and fir the hid retrofit i meant buying the clear front plastic headlights and sourcing something like audi TT oem projectors and ballasts and either way is going to cost a ton but i kind of love messing around with lights haha
  12. Not really sure exactly what your problem could be, when i got my 95 the stock stereo didn't work so i replaced that within a week. I also remember reading that the clarion 'active sound' or whatever system (4 speakers, 4 tweeters) had a terrible amp, so i followed this guide and bypassed it. http://tech.240sxone.com/94/s14-how-to-build-an-amp-bypassdelete-harness/ Stock speaker membrane material was all dried out or nonexistent, so i put kicker speakers all around when i got the money. If you go to crutchfield.com it will tell you pretty accurately what fits and what requires modifications to fit, so maybe give that a shot. If you do have the clarion amp and want to bypass it but keep your tweeters youll have to install passive crossovers (providing that you dont install a better amp, which is definitely the way to go if you have the money). I recently did the passive crossovers and could post some pics/info if you want just let me know
  13. Ah, alright. I only really do occasional light offroading, usually the beach so i really dont run into any situations where i might break one. I currently have 9007's in the stock housing w/relays & aimed all the way down, thats fine with me for now (glare isnt bad either)... I really do love the sad eye and pathy grille combo too much so i guess ill post up results if i ever get the ece assy's if not, probably going to take a shot at an hid projector retrofit. Thanks though!
  14. Let me know if youve found somewhere to buy them! ive been trying to find them on and off for about a year after reading this http://www.motoiq.com/magazine_articles/articletype/articleview/articleid/938/project-pathfinder--for-safety-sake.aspx Just ordered clear corners a couple weeks ago ^-^
  15. My dad bought the 87 new, its at 198k. Moms '02 new has about 150k. Bought my 95 a year and 4 months ago, at 145k now....yeah we kind of like nissans ^-^
  16. Wow! Nice job! Why did they leave her for dead in the first place?? Edit: why dint they try harder to get the starter working again...everyone's got a mechanically inclined uncle or something, no?
  17. Woo what a relief. Thanks guys! How would i know for sure if i have abs or not? Not really sure what kind of components id be looking for.
  18. Alright so heres the story: I was having a bad morning and it was wet outside on my commute to school. So I (yes, i know irresponsibly) downshifted from 3 to 2 at somewhere around 25mph around this turn and threw the back of the car out a little bit to relieve some stress. Everything was fine except i noticed my ebrake and ABS lights turned on while the tires were spinning. When i straightened out they both went off and everything seemed normal (lights were on for about 1.5s). Anyone have any ideas what would cause this/if i have anything to worry about? The brake was all the way down and i'm fairly certain i dont have abs since ive easily locked the wheels in wet weather before with no sign of anti-locking magic or the light coming on. I wasnt on the brake or the clutch, only the gas when it happened. 95 pathfinder 5spd XE 94 pathfinder inst. cluster because the guy who sold it to me sold me the car said the speedo wasnt working and all i had to do was swap in the extra cluster that came with the car (it was the speed sensor not the cluster though) Ive put purple LEDs in place of the stock cluster illumination bulbs a few months ago and everything has been working fine since. Any input greatly appreciated. Thanks!
  19. So i finally added the rest of the extra gear oil to my transmission yesterday and i would like to say THANK YOU SO MUCH to everyone who has offered tips and advice in this thread especially.
  20. Alright so i tried the tipping method before i left for school, and after getting almost 5 bottles of redline mt-90 in, i gave up (I just drove it up onto car ramps at the passenger side tires). Obviously now that i am hundreds of miles away from home, my trans started whining again. I've got another bottle of redline on its way from amazon, and i'm curious as to whether there are any other factors that could help with the tilting method. What positions should the shifters be in? I think I had them in 2wd for the t case and neutral for the trans when i first did it. I don't exactly know how the engine/trans/tcase work together sadly, but if the gear oil can move from the t case to the trans it would make sense to tip it both sideways and forward or backward, with the t case in a setting that would allow the fluid to flow around, no? (please excuse my lack of knowledge if i am completely wrong...i would be more than happy to learn!) if i'm completely off i guess i'll be pulling my seats and stuff in my apartment's parking lot and getting at that shifter haha
  21. Thanks man and lol my bumper was starting to rot so i got halfway to ordering a roll pan and took it off and broke a few bolts...and never finalized the roll pan order. Stuck with a messed up rotted bumper and no new one Hopefully soon ill get around to it
  22. Alright so besides that extra layer of metal i didnt quite expect to see everything went as planned. Some pics: Thank you guys so much for the help! I seriously wouldnt have been able to do this without it. So the only thing left is my question from above, will ratcheting straps from lowes be sufficient to hold a tire in there snugly? (And i think im going to throw a big NPORA sticker on the wind fairing or stencil it on with some spraypaint to represent and say thanks)
  23. @medicbaldwin, yeah that would absolutely be my fallback plan. To update on progress, getting the rivnuts was a PITA, graingers had to have them ordered and absolutely no other store had them. I got aluminum 1/4" by 20 rivnuts and used the harbor freight tool to get them in. Also used step bit from HF especially because the rivs called for 25/64" hole, and the HF one was the only one i could find. Drilled the holes in the roof, and there was another sheet of metal behind where i tried to mount it so i used a regular 25/32" bit to drill through that after using the unibit for the roof metal. Put some loctite silicone sealant inside the holes and on the outsides of the riv nuts, and got them in. Not toooo pretty but im impressed how sturdy it is based on my lack of rivnut expierence/skill. Pics will be up soon. Going to trim the crossbars (1.25" on each side) right now! Then its just a matter of using the provided bracket with the box and putting my tire in. Can i use ratcheting straps? Or do i really need one of the tire mounts made for this?
  24. Not to get too off topic, but what about the juke setup swapped into a wd21? I havent looked at any of the hp/tq numbers but it sounds like a blast to drive to me. And not sure about weight but im assuming its much lighter than the vg? A wd21 on a diet all stripped down with a little 1.8 turbo...hmmm...sorry for rambling just felt the need to get that thought from my head out to someone lol
  25. I could have sworn that the murano crosscabriolet was supposed to be a 4-door...oh well everyone hates them anyway lmao (although id love to have one to take out on the beach for a week because racecar)
