  1. Yea, did find a good thread on this just a little bit ago. I see no reason I couldn't just use shorter 1/2" bolts if I went back to stock/took the spacers out. I'm driving this little mule into the ground anyhow so screw it! Thanks!
  2. NX4 spacers...What size bolts should I order with it? Also, do I need some sort of gasket to go between the spacer and strut top as well as the spacer to the body? Thanks.
  3. No problem. Pretty bad when I am getting something I have wanted for a long time and have to expect the worst!
  4. I did call yesterday to confirm my order and make sure I purchased the right parts online that I was wanting. An older woman answered and was very helpful and said I made good choices in what I ordered and the stuff was in stock and would be shipped out yesterday or today. We'll see how the order looks when it comes in. Cool that you live right by there.
  5. You should post this in the W21 forum, maybe the R50 are hanging out there. LoL Hope you get it fixed soon. I guess since you swapped the new motor in recently I would start by checking connections that may be loose. That's all I've got.
  6. Crazy huh? Looking forward to getting all the parts and laying them out on the workbench. It's funny, id of probably bought more stuff from 4x4parts if the prices and shipping weren't so hiked up. Sad.
  7. F#%k it! I bent over and took it like a man! Ordered the AC lift coils, 5100 series extended shocks and (2) sets of camber bolts from 4x4parts.com. $81 shipping, can you believe that? Got tired of all the thinking an worrying so I pulled the trigger. Whew! Glad that's over. Gotta order the struts, NX4 and nissan only stuff now. Thinking on using the 265/75/16 DuraTracs rather than the 285/75's for mabye a bit better mileage, less cutting and less hassle. Using my stock rims for now. Maybe I'll try the 33's ;-) Dunno. Edit, just ordered the GR2's through amazon from Just Suspension. KYB 335031 $40 and KYB 335030 for$30, so $70 for the pair shipped free. Let me know if I screwed up!
  8. I appreciate the in depth reply, thanks for typing all that! I would like to be able to flex as much as I can so I think I should probably go with the proper length shock. As far as alignment goes, I really don't know how it works and what bolts are available and why. I guess a guy like me is kinda stuck buying the unknown parts from 4x4parts but I wish I was smarter and could get a better deal elsewhere. I hate having to buy stuff twice. Thank for the help. Daryl
  9. I'm just concerned that if I don't know what shock they are selling me, how will I replace it if they don't offer it or are out of business come time to replace it.
  10. Decided on my lift finally. I'm going with the AC lift springs from 4x4parts.com, as for the other parts, I am going to piece them together. From what I have been reading over the last few months has me believing that 4x4parts.com is charging way too much for the parts that you need to go along with this lift. With that said, where should I go for my camber bolts? Should I get 2 pair for this lift? Also, I like those Bilstein 5100 series rear shocks that are for the 2" lift but 4x4parts.com has their own part numbering system and won't tell me the equivalent bilstein part number. Does anybody know this number? I'm trying to save money where I can so I can get the NX4 spacers, struts and Nissan dealer only stuff and I don't really want to get bent over by 4x4parts.com. I appreciate all the help with these decisions so far. Also, I have no personal dealings as of yet with 4x4parts.com, just what I have read here. Thanks!
  11. So, do you think I could tuck the 265/75/16 DuraTrac on a 3.75 BS out back? That's a 32".
  12. Captandy, what prefabbed strut mounts are you talking about? What size bolts did you use, 1/2"? Rig looks great by the way!
  13. That's really cool! As far as I can figure, the SFD going 6" is about $600 more than just doing the AC 2" lift. Either way, I'm running a 33" DuraTrac. I guess the only other question is mileage. Will the extra 4" in height worsen the gas mileage much over the AC lift with both tires being equal? I know there will be a drop either way but I was just curious about the difference between the two lifts. Thanks again guys for all the input. P.S. The Adult in me keeps whispering into my ear to just do the AC lift and 31's and be happy. I'm not a rock crawler, just want to be able to have fun at the dunes with the family and maybe some backwoods exploration. Decisions Decisions.
  14. I look at it this way, If we can stir up some chat, there are new ideas just waiting to be pulled out of somebody's head. My whole start for this thread was tire choice dictating the need for spacers. With the DuraTracs, there is obviously some benefits due to it's narrow shoulder design. I was thinking that with it's narrow shoulder design it may help with tucking the rear tire using a 3.75 BS instead of the stock 4.25 BS, apparently this is not going to happen from what Rick13 has experienced with this tire and wheel combo. If i see a thread on here I don't like, it's pretty simple, I don't follow it.
  15. Oh, I was only foolin. I do have another question for Rick13. You were really still rubbing your 3.75 BS and 285's even with your rear WJ 1" spring adapter and the 4" WJ coils that actually lift it 5.5"?
  16. Yea, Unreal huh? That's why I come here, lots of very knowledgeable and very helpful people on here. Some will tell you to use the search function but I will never say that. I come here so I can learn and soon share my knowledge with others, that's what a forum is all about. Who cares if a question has been asked before, what the heck else do I have to do on here. Not much being posted lately, I say the more the merrier. The W21 guys seem to be the angry ones anyhow, sniffing around our little section of the forum, must be 3.5 envy. ;-)
  17. Guess I was just hoping that with the goodyears funky notch that it would tuck out back with the 3.75, apparently not. I am really shocked that Rick had rubbing issues with the GY 285/33's even with his first attempt at his rear lift which was 6" in the rear but softer springs than he's running now. So, being that this IS my daily driver, should I just go with the AC lift with an NX spacer and do the GY 285's on my stock wheels and run the spacer on the front? I think that I might be able to run less of a thickness front spacer than your 1.5" since I have the narrower tread width than your BFG's 01silverpathy, and I can be closer to the strut than you. OR... did you need the 1.5" spacer for different reasons other than the strut? I really appreciate the help guys, got money burning a hole in my pocket but not enough that I can afford to make a mistake. The SFD is tempting but it would probably worsen mileage over the AC lift no?
  18. That is dumb...rotation would be impossible. Guess if the 4.25 will tuck, I'd only need a 1/2" spacer to get the front to keep from hitting the strut using the DuraTrac tire. Hmmm...
  19. Would it look dumb to get new wheels with 3.75 BS for the front and 4.25 in the rear? Hard to believe that 1/2" of BS would keep the rear tires from hitting the flares. :-(
  20. 01silverpathy, your truck is what inspired me to lift mine in the first place. I was really hoping to engineer my way out of having to run wheel spacers and still run 33's on a 2" lift, looks like that's pretty much impossible no matter what tire brand or pattern you choose.
  21. Thanks for clearing that all up Rick. You have an awesome truck.
  22. So from what I can gather from what you said is... the 3.75 BS with the 285 DuraTrac will work on the front with some wheel well trimming for full lock. On the rear, the 3.75 BS with the 285 DuraTrac catches the fender flares because the wheel sticks out farther and it catches the flares even with a SFD unless you use the stiffer springs. Correct?
  23. I am no expert but I think that while the SFD will definately get rid of the rubbing issues with the wheel well liner and fender/bumper, I don't think it has anything to do with where the tire sits in relation to the strut. Rick13 chose the DuraTracs specifically because the notch in the tires profile that makes running the 285/33" possible without a wheel spacer as long as the wheel has the 3.75 BS. On a side note Devin, what was the reason for the 1" NX spacer in the front combined with the 2" AC lift? Did you add an extra inch in the rear or something?
  24. Devon, correct me if I'm wrong but isn't the axle centerline to the strut bottom where tire touch could occur a fixed distance? If you look at Rick13's pics, his 285 dura tracs clear that bottom area just fine.
