  1. Sounds to me like you are planning to wheel her a bit. Look for mirror mounting options to keep you legal. Here in South Carolina you only need the driver side mirror as long as you have a rear view mirror. Oh, and I know that in some northern states you have to have doors to keep your extremities in the cabin (knees, elbows, etc.) But, thankfully, we live in the "dirty south" and can get away with it!! :aok:

  2. If you plan to drive it offroad you will be fine. I know that it is illegal in most (if not all) states because you will not have your outdoor mirrors.

As for looking silly? Nah ... I have seen a lot of Jeep Cherokees with their doors removed on our local trails. I kind of dig the look. Post pics if you decide to follow through. :)

  3. After you get the motor all sorted out, take a good look at the tires for dry rot. I recently "woke" an old Jeep CJ from a 3yr+ slumber. I did the same steps these guys suggested (using motor oil in the cylinders) and turning the motor over by hand a few times. Took a little TLC but got it purring like a kitten. The gas was so varnished I could smell it weeks after I drained it. :/

  4. Welcome over! This is the "must site" for those of us that have been blinded by the wonders of the Pathy. Hang around and learn something. Share your new experiences and, for the love, share some pics of your rig man! :aok:

  5. ... or wait for the pipes to cool and beat them with the side of your fist (watch out for falling debris!!). I just took a pair of channel locks and ripped/twisted my heat shields off years ago. I've yet to see any damage caused by their removal. I had the same rattle that you described.
