Why is it a pain to get it up?
-
well now that im 50/50 on this im looking around at other pathies with the money he owes me...and declared hed give back to me.
Anyhow
Its a 1992, se, manual,212 xxx km, black exterior/greyish, beige interior, AC, radio, casetter player (i have a cd player), air bags, bag deffoger, abs brakes, leather interior, aluminim wheels, electic-->mirrors, and alot of other goodies... sunroof, side bars, back wing, tinted windows... towing kit, 4 new tires,
Anyway they are asking 3900... negociable which seems pretty decent and if anything needs to be changed... i got tons of spare parts...
Like i said this is just an alternative.
Also a quick question... could i put my cromed rims on this?
Thanks
Jay
I think that would be a great idea

I still say J, do it in your driveway as that is where alot of us started out. I remember at -30 stuffing cardboard on all 4 sides of a chevette and putting a little heater under there. Then since that didn't unfreeze I had to put some charcoal under it as well. Then she unfroze. The reason the cardboard was because the windchill was extremely cold.
That was at 16-17 man so it's determination. If you want it bad enough (I wanted my car going) you will get it done and screw them that screwed you over for right now. You can deal with them later.

Breakfast served. Lots of fishing lures and 1 X-box and 1 ps2 game. A fishing chair that is a backpack which comes with it's own footstol :cool2: and a few more things. Then took the kids to the Red River Ex (Fair) for the rest of the day.
It was a great day I didn't get sick on the rides

LETS GO JETS
Wow I haven't heard that for years here in the Peg

So, to clarify, I need to clear out the codes before I attempt to reconnect the maf? ie, if I connect it now before clearing the codes it still won't run right?
Thanks.
Right, your chances are better if you clear the codes. Plus after you clear the codes plug it back in and see if your pathy dies. If so you will need a new maf sensor.
-
You guys rock!!
Ok, it did take 4-5 tries, each time it turned over more, fired and missed, and then finally fired up. So now I have it where it will start and run, but the air filter is out and the maf is unplugged, and when I try to rev it up it seems weak.
I already have a ride to work tomorrow, and will get a new air filter on the way home. So now I just need to find out if the maf is good or not.
If I let it dry out a couple days, and can actually drive it, I think I should be able to take it to Autozone and use their code reader right in the parking lot. I'm going to guess that there is a code for a failed maf, and if I reset all the codes and the code for the maf pops up again, that it needs replaced? Is that a correct assessment?
Thanks again for all the help. I wasn't going to get any sleep tonight with worrying about buying a new engine. You guys got it solved for me in what, 30 mintues?
Again, you rock, thanks for the help. I'll followup with what I find out once its running good again in case this happens to anybody else.
Ok now that you have taken the air filter out and unplugged the maff. Your pathy is now in limp mode it will run but I believe at 3000rpm it will sputter whether your idling or driving, until you get a new maf.
Well all is you have to do to see if your maf is good is plug it back in and watch your pathy die. After you clear the codes. Then all the fault codes will come up again.
You might want to take your air box out and clean all the water out of it as well.
-
Well, just went out to check it again before I got the last post and it is definitely turning over and tried to fire. I don't have a code reader. Can I unplug the battery to reset the codes?
No that won't reset the codes. I tried many times.
Take the air filter out and unplug the maff sensor or take it right out to dry. Hopefully the drying out will work if you keep trying I know you will have to replace it. The sensors are $700cad my dealer gave me $200 off.
-
The air filter was wet and the starter does turn.
So now you will have to take out the air filter and Maff sensor
Pathy should turn over now. It will take awhile. You will also have to clear the error codes. I know about this as on our last outing we went wheeling and we swamped the pathy. This is what I had to do.
-
If you check your air filter and if it is wet then your maff sensor went (hopefully not they are expensive )
So you might want to check that out first.

How deep was the water ?
-
No it will not effect that. The bumper was pulled off before that on another trail. Here is the trail that did that to the bumper. bumper damagetrail and after that it just never was the same. I did a temp fix but that's it.
The bumper does however have to be notched out for the fairlead.
Thanks,

What about a brush guard? Would one fit or can the holes that are on the frame be mimicked on the winch mount to allow mounting for the brush guard? I cant give that baby up! It would probably be mounted a 1/4" lower though.
I am not sure because a brush guard uses some holes that should be used for the plate. The winch mount plate has 2 large recovery hooks and holes to bolt to that point. This weekend I'll check it out.
I have to make some slight changes I'll look into it as long as it does not effect the strength of the plate.

Testing is now finished and starting on them in the next week. I have a couple vids just waiting for Mr.Dan to host them for me.
-
Ok let the testing commence this weekend.
As for the approach angle for the fairlead I think that particular one may be in line with the front of the bumper. But all makes are a tad different.
The plate also protects more of the front of the rad.
But I'll post pics.
To the trails

I'll replace the cable when it wears out. I know about the advantages of synthetic but I will run with this for awhile. I have OME front springs for her pathy as well.
The control box is mounted under the grill had to fabricate up a bracket. I'll post more pics later when I get the O/R pics and vids. 50lbs is not really going to increase your aproach angle by much at all maybe a 1/4" of an inch. Even at that in the approach angle is increased by the angle in which the skidplate is formed. Meaning a straight plate for the front can have a worse approach angle then a lower truck with a angled plate.
All my additional mounts will work with my skidplates. I'll have pics of everything later on.

Hello guys
Well here it is.
I made up some new recovery hooks. The old ones will not work with this winch mount as it is a 1/4" thick.
Welded them up.
The end product without the winch.
With the winch on the plate
Installed with the bumper on.
Ok I will post pics and vids on the trail in the next few days I have to tester out extensively.

Marcel, you're a lucky guy that your wife is letting you do all this crazy stuff to her truck.
Gotta love her -bounce-
Not just to her truck. Mine and others as well.
Starting into the Chevy trucks soon.
-
Ok sorry guys the bolts didn't show up.
But here's a pic of the R50 bumper it's about 50% finished.
The Bumper still needs recovery points along with bar on top and I need to finish my brackets for the mounting of the bumper.
I updated my future products page.
Thanks,
Marcel

Where can I buy the hidden hitch mount and for how much?
I'm hoping to have all my bolts in this week for the winch mounts.
I'll have pics or a vid of the winch sucking the pathy out with the winch mount.
Thanks,
Marcel
