  1. hey boys, new to the site. just wondering if i should buy this kit from 4x4parts.com

Provides Two Inches of Suspension Lift

Allows for use of 31" tires

You must purchase aftermarket wheels with 3.75" negative backspace when installing this lift.

    Suspension Package Includes:

Four Coils (Coils are powder coated black and can be installed by owner)

    Rancho Front Struts

    Rancho RS5000 Rear Shocks

im not a hardcore offroader but i do hit the trails 3x per year. i really just want a beefier look for the truck...will this rancho kit give me the proper 2" lift i want? also thinking of putting 31" wranglers or maybe 32"?? any input would be great thanx!

Forget the Rancho's in the front, go with the KYB-GR2 and new nissan strut bearings. I bought the Ranchos in the front and they died in 2 months. KYB's last and they work well.

  2. I have a 1998 R50 with 189K and the engine is going strong. These engines are built to last and the tranny is still strong also. Downfall is the gas mileage. Have fun with that lift.

you can get the parts at www.4x4parts.com

Read the pinned topics on this forum and you will learn what most of us have done on lifts for the R50. Basically the do's and dont's on buying parts and how to install the lift.

  3. Then you want what I wanted. Max lift from the springs. I went with the AC set up and am perfectly happy with my choice.

I did the same. If your looking for the 2" heighth, The A/C lift is the way to go. No problems with my CV's. I off-road and tow a trailer with no problems. I did have to install 1.5" adapters on all for wheels which gives it a nice stance on a 285/70R/17 Tire. 33's respectively. Having fun with it. Ready for that SFD 6" lift now for some more fun.

  4. Wow that looks god Mud!!! Good job on that front bumper and with the winch and SFD on, I ready to get my stuff soon. Have you guys though of a price on making that front bumper? It's nice a tight up front which is great for the approach. That's what I'm looking for. The ARB bumper sticks out too far for my taste.

  5. It's looking more and more like I should piece my kit together. How do I pick an extended length shock? I don't want to be a burden asking these types of questions but I have not found a lot of info about the rear shock selection for our trucks. As it stands right now unless I'm instructed differently, I'm going to start to purchase the following. KYB GR2 front struts, AC coils, KYB strut boots, Nissan mounts and bearings, 1.5 inch front spacers and some 33's. Probably going to eliminate the rear sway bar so I have to pick a rear shock. Am I forgetting anything? Thanks!!!

If your looking for more lift, go with the SFD like Silvapathy did. I'm waiting for mine in the mail now.

  6. I had front Rancho struts when I first installed my lift and they died about 3 months later. I dont' recommend going with those struts at all. They are terribel. I installed the KYB-GR2 struts and they made a huge change in performance. I'm very satisfied with these struts and they do great off-roading.

  7. I personally got KYB's put on about 2k miles ago. I love them. Its like riding on a cloud. But now its going to be a little different cuz im getting the rest of my lift put on tomorrow. I even did light offroading with all my stock suspension and never had a problem with them.

Do get OEM strut bearings, mounts, and hardware.

Thats how i did it. For me, parts were $350, and labor was $200. So id think your looking somewhere in the vacinity or $550 - $600.

    hope that helps

After you put on that 2" inch lift, it won't ride like a cloud anymore but you will get other benifits from it like clearance for larger tires and then going big on the trails. It will ride like an off-road vehicle should.

  8. Nice place for that hook up. Looks like a real clean set up. I'm using a Wilson 1000 mag mount right now and i'm going to drill the top instead since the lip on the roof doesn't allow the mag mount to sit well. Now I'm debating whether to go this route since you did such a clean job on the installation.

  9. A 285 is too wide of a tire for a 7" wheel. That's out of the recommended range. 275 would be the widest that a 7" wheel is supposed to handle.

From what i've seen, the 265/75/16s don't rub but they're super close. Most people got spacers just for piece of mind though.

I have 265's on mine and had to 1 1/2 inch spacers. Mainly because of the 17" rims and backspacing on the rim. Works well and I'm happy with the performance so far. Really want 285's next.
