  1. It just threads off. Use a large strap wrench as pliers or a pipe wrench will scratch it all up.
  2. It looks like a driveline disconnect. Many people install them when the vehicle is towed frequently behind a motorhome on all 4 wheels. Basically it disconnects the driveshaft from the transmission when the vehicle is being towed because most automatic transmissions will be damaged if rotated while off.
  3. The r50's have separate turn signal lights and brake lights so you must install a converter so that the trailer harness is a combination stop/turn/tail lamp. Here is a link to a write up slick did: http://www.nissanpathfinders.net/forum/index.php?showtopic=10354 The write up slick did will not be exactly the same because the wires will be different colors and model year changes, but the priciple is the same. Just remember, you will have to run a power wire to the converter. The converter is in essence, a multiple relay which also helps since the load of the trailer lights is not pulled of the small gauge wires of the factory light harness. If you have any questions, feel free to ask as I installed a 7 way trailer plug on my '97 Pathy to tow my 5000# boat with electric brakes on the trailer. Mike
  4. Until you have to go back and fix what they F-ed up at your cost because the F-ing knuckle draggers manager/boss claims the shop did everything correctly...
  5. Your signature says you are running 31" tires, but what gears are in your axles? You should have the 4.636, if you have the 4.363, that will hurt MPG. Have you replaced the coolant temp sensor for the ECU? Condition of Spark plugs?

  9. Columbia, MO here...although, I don't claim to be a Missourian. I hail Arizona as home.
  10. XPLORx4, Could you snap some pictures of the side so that I can see how they attached it to the frame?
  11. nissandoms47, can you take some pics of how the sliders attach? I am interested in making my own.
  12. I dig the weight reduction routine that he has down so good he can do in under an hour. Why the hell he would go to all the trouble to strip all the door panels and seats only to leave the big ass Optima batter and amps that clearly make him go faster...
  13. Check out this awesome intake. I found it cruzin' the intarwebs. http://www.cardomain.com/ride/283843/2 While he does have some good ideas, this one just killed me...
  14. wow...i feel dumb...that makes so much sense now!
  15. call me dumb, but I can't figure out for the life of me WTF POHO means.
  16. What about the engine oil pan? Is the 2wd unit different then the 4wd pan?
  17. The rules are going to vary from state to state. The easiest way to find out is look up the Department of Motor Vehicles or Department of Revenue on the web for your state. I know in Missouri, you have to fill out a notice of sale, have the buyer sign it, and mail it in within 30 days of the private sale.
  18. I have fully printed the FSM (took forever) so I have all of that knowledge...
  19. I do understand that this is going to be a lot of work, it is all a learning experience and I have the opportunity. Basically, I am dumping the rolled donor pathy in my garage and will begin swapping parts. I need this information ahead of time though so I can make sure I can get everything from this donor or if I need to pass on it and find a better canidate.
  20. I will be getting the entire donor '97 r50 for $800 so this will be cheaper then selling mine and buying another. Plus, I don't want to have to deal with relicensing the new vehicle and finding a buyer for mine.
  21. I own a '97 XE 2WD. I want to get 4WD. I have sourced a wrecked r50 to get parts from. What all am I going to need to swap? I have the auto transmission currently and will stay with that. I am aware I will need to swap in the 4WD auto trans because of the mount up to the transfer case. I know that I will need to do the following: transmission transfer case front axle drive train parts front and rear drive shafts gear shift console What else am I going to need to swap? I want my pathy to turn out as close to a 4x4 pathy would have rolled out of the factory as I can. Is the oil pan on the 2WD engine the same as the 4WD engine? Will I need to swap the ECU? Any advice would is greatly welcomed.
