  1. Let us know how it goes. I am curious as to how the dealer takes to you returning the vehicle. Best of luck.
  2. Depends on the size of the boat he will be towing. I have an R50 and a 21' boat that weights in at ~5000#. It works for me right now as I only tow a 5-10 times during the boating season but it is SLOW. If I was purchasing a vehicle as a designated tow rig for my boat, I would go with a Titan or Tundra. However, I am going to hang on to the pathy until I finish college. If my boat only weighed 2500# or less, I wouldn't fault the pathy at all. Make sure the trailer has electric trailer brakes and you be sure to install an auxilary trans cooler no matter what you do. My 2 cents...
  3. Good thing, ignoring it is probably the best thing you can do.
  4. I have a AC compressor off a 98 pathy i bought for parts. The AC was very cold when it was together. No leaks in the sealed system. If you are interested in a replacement for yours, PM me.
  5. Damn, I would be HEATROED after a day like that.
  6. From your profile, it looks like you added cams, wideband O2 sensor, POP charger, and the APEXi tuner. Anything else? You changed the lifters, did you also change springs or retainers? After you put on the cams, what problems surfaced? What problems were there before the cams?
  7. What else did you replace besides cams? Lifters, springs, retainers? What other componets did you replace? Did you mod the ECM? If I do this, I don't want to find out afterwards that I have to mod the ECM or purchase other items in order to run.
  8. I have searched around a bit but haven't found much in the way of what people thought after the cams were installed. I like my pathy, but it is underpowered with the 3.3. I called JWT to speak with a technician and the only advice he offered was that sometimes the S2 cams have a problem when installed in vehicles with autotrans because of the low idle. They also mentioned about springs and lifters. Was it 98silverpathy who actually installed the cams? What did you think. What will my pathy be like afterwards?
  9. I am getting ready to tear into my 4x4 transmission before I finish my 4x4 conversion mainly because I wasn't impressed with the condition of the fluid when drained and it had 131,000 miles on it. I have purchased a Trans-Go shift kit, a master overhaul kit and a ATSG trans manual. I also have the FSM. I have searched dar intarwebz but can't find much help or any info from people who have done this before. I have already addressed the cooling issues by adding 2 huge coolers, a remote thermostat to control the coolers, a remote filter, and completely bypassed the stock cooler and radiator.

  11. I am making some progress on my 4wd conversion. This past weekend, I put new struts in, swaped out the spindles, added new ball joints, rebuilt the donor CV axles, added Warn hubs, and put the center section differential in place. Next, I have to tear the 4WD transmission apart and see what I need to replace. The transmission had 131,000 miles on it and I am concerned about the internals because when I drained the fluid, it was a NICE mud brown. I can get a complete rebuild kit for $230 and I already have a TransGo kit ready to go in. I could just take my 2WD transmission, swap the output shaft and rear housing and reattach the transfer case, but I need this car to last me through the next few years. Can't wait to have a 4x4 again!
  12. Phil, Just thought I would send my support along to you. I myself know first hand what depression can do to a person. It caused me to fail out of college, twice. It was all I could do to keep every word that came out of my mouth a lie. That was the worst part; I made it nearly impossible for those close to me the see the trouble I was in. Anyways, not to ramble, but get all the help you can. Support from others is the best you can get.

    Strut Help!

Crisis averted...I called tech support for KYB and apparently the bumpstops are universal among other struts too and you have to cram them on.

    Strut Help!

I have my only car torn apart in the driveway at the moment, replacing the struts. I have new kyb struts and boot/bumpstop kits. However, the KYB bumpstop does not appear to be compatable with the factory strut plate/mount. WTF? Can anyone give me some help here?
  15. WTF!? Why did he have to call the exterminator? Problem was obviously solved.
  16. 88, its not really which tube you are connecting to on the cooler that matters, but which one is higher. If you have the input to the cooler above the output, fluid flow is going to be fighting the rising air displaced once the cooler is filled. The cooler will flow both ways, but if the fluid "rises" in the cooler with the air, it will automatically purge all the air from it, as long as there is not a pocket above the horizontal level of the output.
  17. Incorrect, the orientation of the lines does matter on stacked plate coolers as if they are inproperly routed it can cause poor flow problems and air pockets in the system. Like if the output is lower then the input. Orientation does not matter on tube and fin coolers. Stacked plate coolers are more effecient then tube and fin.
  18. I like the new selection of smilies since the forum software was updated, but I feel one is lacking and replaced a better one. The lol smilie from before the switch...you know, the one that has the red mouth, not the one that looks like gramps when he laughs. Thanks in advance <get rid of this guy...replace with old. That is all
  19. WTF? why is this moving around the web so much?
  20. What is the GVW of this trailer loaded with all your gear? You are going to need electric brakes on the trailer for anything over 1000# I believe. I am in the middle of getting ready to tow my 21' boat for the season, 5000# loaded. So far, I have only taken trips around town, but everything seems fine once I wired the electric brake control in the Path.
  21. Damn...Imagine the ebay fees on that sucker...or even the Paypal fees...
  22. I believe the '97 has a high pinion R200A front axle and H233B rear axle. I am trying to re-gear my pathy to the 4.636 gears and need to know what other pathfinders or even other nissans could be donor vehicles. Currently, I have a '95 pathy available as a donor. Will these gears fit in mine? I can't tell from the FSMs. Mike
  23. Check the muffler bearing. On a more serious note, it could also be the plastic strut bearing located in the strut mount. Can you reproduce the squeal with the front end on jacks while a friend turns the wheel? I think that would be the best way to diagnose the prob.
  24. I looked around on the web and you can buy the M90 for the same price as the M62
