  1. Well I have found a factory light bar of of an 1988 pathfinder. The guy is asking $125 not including shipping. What do ya'll think about the price?
  2. Okay thanks. Are these bushings Nissan only parts, or can they be purchased from a local auto parts store?
  3. Thanks for the suggestions. The panhard rod is still in place. As far as the bushings go, how can I tell if they need to be replaced other than obvious dry rot? I'm guessing when you replace these bushings you just get new ones, not from the junkyard right? The pathfinder has about 285k miles on it so I'm sure they have their fair share of wear...
  4. Ok so this problem has been bugging me for a long time. When you hit the gas pretty suddenly the back end kind of slides to one side, and then when you let off the gas real quick the rear end feels like it drops on one side a little bit, and then slides back again. I replaced the stabilizer bar bushings, which seemed to help a little at first, but now I can't really notice any change. I have a pretty big hole under the rear seats kinda in between where the two body mounts on either side are, but soon i'm going to weld in a new foorpan. Any other common problems that could cause this or other things to check? Thanks!
  5. This happened awhile back to my 88, and it turned out that the cable needed to be replaced. Over time the square ends of the cable become rounded and cause the speedo to be jumpy or not work at all.
  6. I'd have been wondering if the switch was the culprit, I was just hoping it wasn't. From what I've seen they are a doozy to replace. So are the contacts in the switch serviceable or am I stuck with having to put in a different switch? Appreciate the help!
  7. Nope no excess resistance. Recently the motor was replaced, and I checked the fuses. Is there a relay somewhere that might be causing problems?
  8. So the 4th fan speed doesn't work for my heater/ac controls. Whenever you slide it to the 4th speed the fan cuts off, no movement all all. I was thinking maybe the resistor was bad, so I replaced it with a working resistor, and it still wouldn't work. The only other things I could think of that might be causing this is a break in a wire, or possibly corroded switch/connecter. Anyone else had a similar problem, or have some ideas? Thanks!
  9. There are quite a few in pretty nice condition sitting in the junkyards around here.
  10. Dharidson, would you mind telling me if your dash mounted fog light switch is mounted in a round or semi-circle shaped hole. The plug (where the dash mounted switch would go in my) is fitted into a semicircle shaped hole, but the switch won't fit into it without some drilling, and I don't want to drill unless needed.
  11. Kinda seems odd though that dharidson and me have the same exact one in the same car. Maybe they were factory just used if the rectangle rocker switches weren't available or didn't have a free space
  12. I am thinking about possibly installing a factory roof rack to my 88 (which never came with one). Will the racks for the 4 doors work for the 2 doors or are they completely different? I'm looking for something somewhat easy to install requiring little or no modification (besides drilling etc), and I'm also wanting to avoid a leaking roof as well as added rust problems. Is this something I should avoid? I also noticed that the 2 door rack I saw at the jy was held to the roof by pop rivets, while the 4 door rack was held on by phillips or torx screws. Thanks!
  13. Does the hole that your switch fits in a full circle shape or a semi circle shape? The cutout for the switch in my dash in semicircle, but the switch is circular, so if i mounted it i would have to modify the hole.
  14. So yesterday I went to the junkyard and looked through some 20 pathfinders to see if I could find me any goodies. I got me a factory fog light switch (orange push pull) out of a 87 model where the switch was mounted under the rear wiper/hazard switches in the little recess on the lower part of the dash. Now on my 88 that I'm thinking about putting it in, there is a plastic round plug on the left side of the steering column underneath the dimmer switch and cruise switches. When I took the plastic plug out of the hole (where I'm guessing the switch would mount) the hole in the dash was a semicircle shape and not a full circle like the 87 model I got the switch out of. Does anyone have a picture of the factory foglight switch in the dash? Thanks!
  15. Ok well thanks guys for all the help, I really appreciate it. Currently the pathfinder isn't registered so I can't drive it too far. I'll check the fluid again (the correct way) and proceed from there. Thanks again!
  16. Yes it is on level ground. I checked it cold, should the engine be hot? Yeah it was the trans dipstick (thanks for the suggestion though).
  17. Actually that is why I was asking haha. This one is used though.
  18. Does anyone know how much a stock spare tire for 1995 and earlier pathfinders sell for with all bolts/latches/mounting hardware, without shipping?
  19. Ok well I crawled up under the car and verified that there is indeed a cooler installed right in front of the radiator. I traced the hoses connected to it to two metal pipes which then joined up with the transmission I am assuming. I just checked the fluid and it still seemed fine and it wasn't low.
  20. Funny you should mention this, I just asked my dad about the transmission cooler. He said the first time he had it rebuilt, the transmission shop put in a cooler, because they said it didn't have one. This shop was also several hours away, my dad had to stop there to have it fixed so he could get it the rest of the way home. He said they probably just put in an aftermarket one, since they were not at dealer. I don't know how reputable this shop was, but we've had several sketchy experiences when its been at different shops. Maybe they were just really pulling his chain. This is probably a dumb question, but can you tell externally if a cooler is installed. I've never messed with autos before just an old 3 speed manual.
  21. Battery is still in good shape, and alternator was replaced within the past 2 or so years. Sounds like replacing the cooler would be a good project once I get the funds up haha, I'll have to see if there is a write-up on here on installing one.
  22. Yes I believe it was falling out of overdrive, and I was running 31x10.50x15's. To tell you the truth, I'm not sure if the stock cooler was replaced or not, I would have to ask my dad to see if they did that when the transmission was rebuilt those times I mentioned.
  23. I would say so. Last time I drove it was 25 miles one way down the highway at about 65-70 mph, and it did it pretty much the entire trip.
  24. Ok, well the automatic transmission on our 88 pathfinder has been rebuilt twice. After driving it on the highway recently, I noticed it shifting from the highest gear back down to the lower gear down (I'm guessing 4th to 3rd), and it does that back and forth more so when going up a moderate grade. Seems like I recall a sensor or something being replaced on it alot earlier in its life for the same problem, but I'm not sure. Has anyone else had this problem and know how to fix it? Appreciate the help!
