Well, after probably a 10 year hiatus a came across this site again, after realizing that my ‘02 I had way back In the day would actually be getting a little long in the tooth if I still had it! And plus, I missed hearing all the Car50 jokes from the WD diehards .
Not sure how many old timers are still around but if you are...HI! Lots has changed for me since I joined way back when...I roll around in a 2k13 4Runner, I have 2 young kiddos and I’m oldCheers!

Do you have a picture of that set up? Thanks
Here are a few:
-
Yeah I was actually under the impression it was front and rear locking diffs, turns out it's only rear.
As for the skids (not that I really trust any "skids" from the factory), there's one on the front, one under the subframe, the t-case and the gas tank. We'll see how built-up they really are :-)
-
I just did a 255/70-16 on my 2002 when I did the OME lift on it, no other modifications required and it looked great matched with the added lift.
Probably your best bet.

Well we picked up a 1997 Monty with a hair over 220K on it last week. All things considered, the thing's in remarkably good condition; no dents, good paint, very clean interior and all electrical works. Driving wise, it's great...comes with the 3.5L rated at 200hp (I think). It's a cool truck...rear jump seats (like the Disco SE7's), factory rear air locker, full skids from front to back, factory altimeter/clinometer, etc.
It needs new tires (31x10.5) has a leaky valve cover gasket and bad heater core, otherwise it's fine. I'll post some pics up later.

Doing a quick google they have even less aftermarket support than we do!
Yeah no kidding, but he's not too interested in making it a trail rig. We'll throw on some new meats and what-not but that's probably about it.
Sounds like a decent vehicle from what I'm gathering. Funny, anyone I've spoken to usually has a "my buddy had one of those" stories and they're usually the same...and I TOO had a buddy who had one and wheeled the hell out of it!
If I could only find a Mitsu. Raider...
-
Yeah, WD's would be the best option but like I said...finding one in the northeast is like trying to find a needle in a haystack!
-
IIRC you're right...they're siblings. This one's got the 3.5 in it, not the more anemic 3.0 like the older ones.

My brother in-law is looking to get a 4x4 winter run-around vehicle to do some ski runs and what-not and so far, this is the best bet yet. He really wants an X, but for what he's looking to spend in cash (less than $4k) all he's turned up are 2000's with a million miles on them and just as many stories from the P.O.'s to go along with them. He's not interested in Exploders (they're a dime a dozen), and WD's in the northeast are nothing but oxidation experiments these days...and R50's (sob) are not an option. He found this one in Hartford for sale by a guy who owns a small (illegal) dealership and doesn't speak any english. He drove it today; it shifts great and sounds perfect...no trans. slippage and has lot's of power.
I dig the stock clinometer and altimeters these things have as well as the retro interiors. Anybody have any experience with them??

You know...when I was about to click on the "transmission" button I was preparing myself for the tranny to have been butchered and de-clutched, but the rev-matching synchro thingy actually sounds pretty impressive...takes blipping the skinny pedal completely out of the equation.
Sounds/looks as if they're spot-on with the Z.

I had one in my R50 that I got from Petsmart...looked exactly like Trainman's and IIRC it only cost about $75.00. Worked great, just need to make sure it's nice and tight or it rattles a bit. I mainly used it to clip things to.
Google search...
That's the Petsmart one, it's listed online for $69.99. Was completely expandable/collapsible to make it fit just right...

Holy @#*!!! Catastrophic engine failure. Damn, that's brutal.

Good morning!

Nissans hold up well in wrecks...
My buddys Maxima, about 60 into a pole
curb took the wheel off the front right, and sent the car airborne. He got out of it all with a sore back
What kind of wheels are those? They kind of look like the stockers I had on my '02 SE-R
-
LOL @ the wreck...you get those from wreckedexotics.com?
-
yes those are savage.
but really, a true enthusiast knows an inline 6 will destroy V6 all day long
even Nissan knows this
I didn't say that because they're race engines but because they're bulletproof, smart ass.

BLAST! 17/20...slipped up the Pontiac logo, best selling car and the MB slogan!

Civics, well, Hondas in general seem to have taken on the same connotation as pitbulls...they're a dime a dozen and a few bad apples have given the general public a terrible opinion when the word "Civic" and "tuning" are used in the same sentence.
Certainly there are plenty of fast, well-modded ones in the world...just search YouTube. The majority, however, just plain suck.
-
You know its plenty fast, and i can race 3 series all day and win, so for a 4 door sedan its pretty damn good. And when I said found the wheels, the car came with the other wheels, and I found the sport wheels off of a G35 Coupe online for cheap so my dad bought them and put new tires on. And I would never.....ever drive a car/suv with out a V6- I HATE 4 bangers
You've never owned a 22R/RE powered 4 Runner or KA24 powered D-21 Hardbody...

Well I'm a new member and with this topic being online I was able to quickly diagnose my issues with my 2002 Pathfinder. The Nissan dealer was telling me that the Catalytic disintegrated and took out the motor. not Believing them i looked into it a little closer and took off the throttle body and took a look . Here's what I came upon.
Well, what was it?

My hobby as of recent:
1990 SAAB 900 with 240K on it and a 5 speed. Bought it off of ebay for $700. New clutch, rebuilt trans., alternator, starter, brakes all around, tires. Best of all, EVERYTHING WORKS! It's my dog hauler right now and probably one of the ugliest cars around here. I've always been a SAAB fan and this is my 3rd c900. It needs paint (obviously) and a new interior...usually it sits somewhat dis-assembled but there are a ton of c900's at the pick-n-pulls that I frequent for parts. One of the easiest cars I've ever worked on (save for the reverse engine design)

Not exactly a fan of the NFL period, I just know how to spell it constantily seeing it on a daily basis, living in Pittsburgh. What dumbfounds me is the crap that went on around here and the Steelers won....smashed windows, destroyed parked cars, couches lit on fire in the street, heck a coupel steps away from riots in places.......don't see Nascar fans doeing that....
That sounds about right for the Steeler fans I know too...wouldn't expect any less from them.
Nothing says "let's celebrate" quite like pillaging, felonies and prison.
New! Err, back again?

Nice! Tks for the welcomes. Yep, I wheel the 4Runner though my days of lifts, dents and pinstripes are long gone...all I have on it are some General Grabber AT-x’s which are amazing. But I’ve still found time to get a buddy to pull me out of a few holes more than once! It’s a great rig...it was one of the few that came w/ the third row so when I take the kids, they love it.
