  2. make sure your wires are all secure and tight. But it seems our pathfinders dont like tune ups, from all these write ups including mine.
  3. there is a full write up in these forums about it, I think in general forums. But you can change the idle speed through this yes, but an easier way it to on the back of the intake manifold is your idle air control motor with a screw you turn to adjust it. If you look in from the driverside you can see the screw.
  4. I liked it i used thier 4x4 blend for my blazer and never had any problems with it. But hey everyone has something good or bad to say about motor oil, Its really your own opinion that matters.
  5. Hey, I know how to do it and it wont cost you anything. Take the whole thing off. Leave it off, if your ac doesnt work, like mine I just removed the idler pulley and bracket and the ac compressor/condensor and lines. Alot more room to to work with especailly seeing I have to pull the driverside exhaust manifold off to fix the 1 broken stud.
  6. they are made for our pathfinders. You can buy them off of ebay for 90 bucks.
  7. hahahaha thanks guys, The relay im hearing is the check relay clicking on on the pass side undernieth the hood, which yes would come on when the check guages come on. But thats all I know of for now.
  8. I have had sh*t luck ever since i bought the stupid thing I havent been able to even take it camping or anything.
  9. :help: Ok I fixed my idle problem finally after months of screwing around with it and replacing everything under the sun and spending a ton of money. But it doesnt stop there, now my Pathfinder has a new problem when the motor hits around 1200rpms the automatic transmission fluid temp level light comes on along with the battery light and the brake light. they will stay on if the rpms are over 1200. Under it it does nothing and they are off. But I know there is nothing wrong with the brake and the trany is fine and it does it all the time even when cold and the alt/battery is good to. But they all come one simutaniously so I know its an electrical thing. Dont know what I did tho, hasnt done it before. It also sounds like some relay is clicking on whe the lights go off not sure where its coming from I havent had the time to really check it out. But let me know if you ahve any ideas. Thanks, Mike
  10. And then they told me to never hose down under the hood--too many electronics in a Nissan to get wet. So hopefully everything is dry and this doesn't happen again! Time to do a little wheeling on our river--hopefully something challenging! Just dont go to deep into the water, HAHAHAHAHA!
  11. Check your cap and rotor and maybe the plug wires. I dont know if you did all them when you did the plugs or not but an easy check.
  12. Yeh check your ECU it will give you a code and then you can also look up what the code is with the number it gives you. There is a write up in here about it. Very helpful. But kinda sounds like a distributor problem with sputtering and loss of power, that is common with pathfinders, but hearing thats its only on long trips makes me think not. Im still working out my idle problem with my Pathfinder, but hopefully me and my buddy solved it tonight. Knock on wood, we'll see tomorrow for the test drive. But if you need parts I have plenty of spare good used parts for cheap for pathfinders as I have tried everything to try and fix mine. They are all tested and work fine with no problems But just check out your ECU it s probably a really eay fix.
  13. I THINK I FINALLY GOT IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I replaced the idle air control motor/solonoid with another used one and let it sit for about 10 minutes at idle and it idled fine. KNOCK ON WOOD!!!!! Now its time to check it out again in the A.M when I can see. Pray for me guys, hahahaha!
  14. Oh, ask 94 Pathy he has done it before.
  15. I know its a common sound for all chevy's to make they have "whining" fuel pumps. But on my 95 Pathfinder, I dont hear mine enough to notice it except for the initail start up, I like to turn the key let the fuel pump turn on and when i hear it stop then turn the ignition over. But outside the car I have never noticed the sound other than when i do the initail start up deal, which is normal.
  16. yeh plugs just s*ck sometimes. Like on a mid to late 90's mustang 5.0. the passenger side has all the smog pump hoses and brackets in the way its a pain in the hiney. and then the 5.7 in some of the chevy's like the station wagon and the mid-late 90's camaros and firebirds where the cowl overlaps the back of the motor leaving you no room to work with. Just great!
  17. I cant really rember i have done this once before on a buddy of mines Pathfinder, still have yet to do it to mine. First off take off your wheels, then the brakes. then there is like 8 allen bolts covering the hub assembly. take that apart and grease em up. As I said I cant really remebrr as I did it while putting a new axle in the Pathfinder probably 8 months ago, I have a bad memory. But at the least bit its no big deal very easy to d yourself not worth having a place do it for you and charge you alot.
  18. its the cat. when the cat goes bad it smells like rotten eggs. Change it. you might also find youll get a smoother running car if its all clogged and junk. or just take it off and take a metal rod and smash the screens out and have a hollowed out cat if you dont feel like spending the money for a new one. But I dont know if you need to pass a strict emissions test in your state or not. But here in MA you couldnt pass with a hollowed out cat converter.
  19. Both connections are tight. I started to take the upper intake off but I'm sick right now so it will have to wait till the weekend to do the idle are control motor.
