  1. Have a 97 as well with 179000 on it. Had the same issue at about 80,000 and had all of this checked out. Turned out to be a right side busted strut. Sorry for the news if thats the problem though it's about 600-700 to replace them. With that size of tires still have the other pieces checked out. If anything needs to be replaced check out some of the other posts in relation to some of the heavy duty applications.
  2. http://www.tirerack.com/ Affordable if you are doing it yourself. I went with the cermaic pads and they have produced a lot less dust for me. And what dust you get comes off pretty easy.
  3. Weapon R makes a free flow intake, a cold air intake and a Ram Air kit that one of the guys on the forum modified to use the area under the driver side turn signal. The cold air kit is expensive and it is for the Xterra model but if your looking to do the same thing with the K&N . I was looking to the Ram Air combined with the computer upgrade (http://www.4x4parts.com) and install 2 of the Aeroturbine exhaust (http://www.aero-turbine.com) with the larger pipe running back from the exhaust mans. If this doesn't get me fast enough I will look at the dry/wet nitrous system. This is the site that I found for pricing on the Weapon R stuff. http://www.autoaccessorystore.com/home.asp...n%20R%20Intakes I also had a question for you. Isn't the VG33E engine that same model that was in the TwinTurbo Z'z of the same year?
  4. If you are sure that it comes from the vents. Check to make sure that you are not getting moisture that is standing anywhere in the vehicle. As well I have to say with it being brand new I would be in the same place that you are with wanting a replacement. The wierd issue here is that the duct work is plastic. Even if you were getting standing water you shouldn't get a mildew smell. If they haven't done it yet. Make them replace or at least take apart the entire duct work under the dash. That would be my next step. After that I would tear everything out of the inside and replace the carpet and the seats. I know that you don't want to go there with this being a brand new vehicle but it has to be one place or the other.
  5. I pushed the rear of 96 Grand Am up to his rear window. I lost part of a bumper, a driving light and my windshield washer fluid reservoir. It's a long story and no I was not on a cell phone. Tough trucks though.
  6. You should be able to find some fair pricing. Unfortunately you seem to be out of luck if you want headers though. I checked with a local shop and I think I can get a pair made for about 300. As for replacing the ones you have check the pipes all the way back as well. If you plan on keeping it awhile. The other thing is some places sell them seperate. I haven't bought to much some odds an ends but they have what you need http://www.moonlightmechanic.com Replace both of them though not just the cracked one.
  7. If the guy doesn't have any plans for the engine and you have a place to store it get the old one back. Now that the deal is done he is in the same spot as the guy you got your engine from. You can get an engine stand for about fifty bucks. If you plan on keeping the Pathy as long as lot of the rest of us it might come in handy to have a spare. While the Pathy is a very durable vehicle with a great engine bad things do happen. If it only blew out the bottom half and there is no head damage.....you can see where I'm going. The other option is that you can build up one hell of a motor over time
  8. You can add the standard QX4 driving lights. You'll need the switch assembly and the wiring harness. You'll also have to do some cutting but its a snug fit. With the 3 sets of lights it makes it very easy to watch out for deer on 2 lanes. Just be careful about who you blind with'em.
  9. I know it sounds silly but there is a hepa filter up by the windshield that filters airflow into the cabin. Have they replaced that as well? Just a thought it sounds like you've done everything else.
  10. How many of the O2 sensors did they replace? There are 4 of them.

    Noise

The cat rattling can be an issue at start. It will go away after the vehicle warms up. It will still happen occasionally while driving. I had mine cut off and never had the problem again. If you metal on metal sound is almost like a pinging when accelarating I would follow some of the other posts that said to look at the timing. That kind of With your rig being a 98 it does have that sheild and it is a very simple fix. My mech cut it off for free for me. I have an issue when it gets cold and I haven't changed out the oil from summer to winter viscosity I get some noise out of the valves. I know for me that it's not getting oil up in the heads right away. Hope it helps.
  12. If your looking for great ON-Road tires with limited off road use. I have the new Goodyear Fortera's 275/15/70. Found the best price at Tirerack.com. I have about 35000 on them and they are great. Dry, Rain, Snow did not matter.
  13. That sounds like it is the caliper being blown that is causing your fluid usage. When the piston seals inside the caliper start to go out it can bleed fluid out. On my previous vehicle it was bleeding onto the disc itself. I think you'll be ok with a swap out on the rotors and you will probably need to replace the caliper on that side. If the M/C is as cheap as above mentioned I would go ahead and swap it out as well. Should be a great weekend project.
  14. When accelerating from a stop with the pedal set in the same position the vehicle seems accelarates but it's not smooth. From 1000rpm to 1500rpm fine from 1500rpm to 2500rpm it seems to yo yo. It doesn't die or sputter. Its still smooth it just seems to be a loss of power. When it hits about 3000rpm though it takes off like the bat out of hell it always has and is smooth all the way through 5500rpm. Fuel pump or timing belt is my guess with leaning toward the fuel pump since it's not consistent. 1997 SE 126,000+ Bought with 68,000 2 1/2 years ago. Replaced fuel filter, plugs, brakes, struts, diff service(fr,r,tc), new tranny filter and fluid, A-arms. I am a stickler for maintence so I am all over it normally. Any ideas or past experience would be great.
