  1. Adding to what Vengeful said, the 2005 Xterra and Frontiers share the same VQ series engine and choices of 6-speed manual and 5-speed auto. If it was me I would buy the NISMO Off-Road version of either, as an electronic locking rear diff. is included in the package. The new Xterra's kick ass. When I had my learner's permit at 15 my mom had a 2000 Pathfinder LE. I loved it! (except for the Sahara Beige/Beige combo) But it was so slow I promised myself I would never own anything with the VG33E. Well, my first car was a brand-new '03 Xterra VG33E (Mommy wouldn't buy the SC :sniff: Just Kidding!). Traded it 6 months later for an '03 VW GTI 1.8t. Funny how things come full circle after a Jeep and a 4Runner...
  2. Already signed it; i'm Number Two! Unfortunately, I don't think they will do it though...
  3. So if the KYB GR2 is the only strut up front, then will this work: AC Rancho Struts Just curious, maybe it will work? Is AC wrong? Thanks. Pezzy: Thanks for the info on the lift, I don't mind the 2", just don't want to get buyers remorse. I would love to find the pics of the 6" lift on that Japanese R50!
  4. Perfect, thank you very much! The Rancho 5000s may be sufficient, but I think I'll spring (no pun intended) for the 9000s if I do Rancho. Coming from a 1998 Toyota 4Runner, the Bilstein 5000 was the shock of choice, so I'll check that one out as well. Thanks!
  5. Welcome! You have the most beautiful color and equipment combo on the 1996-1999 models, I'm pretty jealous. Also, I live in Indiana now, I go to IU in Bloomington, so if ever a Midwest club has a meet you should check into it. Keep up with MXO. Good luck!
  6. Welcome aboard! You will quickly find that if you search hard enough, there are plenty of quality parts for the R50 (1996-2004) models such as spring lifts, bumpers, etc. that you can make a solid off-roader and keep it a great daily driver. Good Luck!
  7. Welcome! You can check Automotive Customizers for some parts and lifts, if you are into the off-road scene. The R50, as your model is called, is a capable vehicle even in mall gear, such as mine. Nice ride!
  8. I have read the pinned topic at the top of this section. Nowhere does it say anything about a 3" or 6" lift. What I have gotten from these forums is to get the Warn hubs too. Fine. And that, obviously, a 265/75 tire will fit. So after examining TireRack, the KYB GR2 strut is fine for the front, and the Rancho 9000x shock for the back? And new Nissan strut towers? I think mine are squeaking over bumps. So this is the most desireable set up for light wheeling with the AC kit? I may be a newb to R50s but not to VW MKIV GTI, Jeep ZJ, Toyota 4Runner, Xterra, any BMW, etc; none of which I have encountered struts to replace. My bad...
  9. Sorry if it seems like I'm hijacking your post- In the near future I will be thinking about going with the AC lift and am glad to see that some people like AC, as I didn't have a problem with the horn I ordered from them. When you go for the AC lift, do you need to replace shocks/struts at the same time? What shocks/struts are recommended with the AC lift? Mine are worn and original. I have read about the KYB GR-2 struts and Rancho 9000x's. The Rancho's are in the rear, and the KYBs in the front??? Also I will be buying hubs and 265/75 tires at the same time. What is the difference between a shock and a strut? What does each do? Are there rear struts? What about the 3" and 6" lifts that are supposed to be coming out? I tried to search but couldn't find anything. Debating whether it would be worth it. Thanks for any replies!
  10. Haha, well if you want to buy me another one, well... It's funny because the only other one I saw is a Sherwood Green one, an auto. The kid went to my old high school.. oh well. I did call Nissan of North America about it, and after a long time they finally told me to go to the dealer. The guy on the phone was such an ass-kisser it kinda pissed me off, so overtly polite like I just paid for his kid's college or something. Oh well. Thanks guys!
  11. I just got off the phone with a representative of Nissan USA. He is going to call me back if he can find the actual production numbers, but did tell me that the package was available on 4x2 and 4x4, but the 4x4 got the rear LSD. No clue on price. KBB does not factor in specific vehicle options, as always: KBB Edmunds' was a bit more exact in specific options for my Pathy: Edmunds
  12. Okay yall, please read my original post! Some of you are looking like idiots here! If you actually read my original post you will see that I am asking how to obtain information on exactly how many of each model, package, etc. were sold in a model year. My model year is 1999.5. I come from owning Xterras, BMWs, VWs, etc. where the # of units sold is easy to obtain. What I am also saying is that while many 1996-1999 Sport Packages, such as RowOSU's R50 were sold and are quite commom, the 1999.5 and newer Pathfinders are super rare with the outside spare. I have seen only one other since they came out, as opposed to the 15 "normal" 1999.5+ R50s that I see every day. So, in closing, is there any way I can find out how many 1999.5 Off-Road Pkg. were sold in the United States? I am in no way implying that I have an off-the-shelf off-roader. I do appreciate rare vehicles, with rare equipment.
  13. Haha, I would just like to tell people how rare it is, like " Oh yeah baby, this one isn't your regular grocery-getter, its got the Off-Road package!" Yeah, I know its stock, don't make a big deal about it. You should see the worn all-seasons off-road in the mud and even in the rain! So much fun... I may actually be putting it up for sale though, I just have to think about it for a while...
  14. I was in the same dilemma as you are, but my friend just so happened to be selling his Audiobahn enclosure and super-nice Alpine V12 amp, plus all of the necessary wiring all for $200. Then I went to Circuit City, and it just so happened that the had a sale of Buy One Get One Free on the 10" Kicker Comps. Its more toward the bottom line at $80 retail, but it gets the job done for me and I have a spare one new in the box. (If you want it you can PM me.) I am more than happy, plus its installed to my stock Bose until I find the money to upgrade that. Go with a 10" and an okay sub, but with a nice amp and decent box. You won't be disappointed, and the ladies will be impressed too. Tomorrow I will borrow a digital camera and take some pictures of it.
  15. Yep, thats my first post. But I am now looking for actual production numbers, as I and other owners are well-aware that it is very rare. What I am trying to say is that while many 1996-1999 XE and SE Pathfinders were equipped with the similar Sport package, I have only seen one other 1999.5 with the Off-Road Pkg. I was curious to see exactly how rare it is! Thank you very much for the compliments! If I can get my grubby hands on a digital camera I will be more that happy to take pictures of the assembly.
  16. Does anyone know how rare my R50 is? Since the Off-Road package was only made in the 1999.5 models and the fact that I have only seen one other one in my life, I assume, at least in the U.S. it is rare. Mine was built in 1/99. I can give my VIN if anyone can look it up or something. Please somebody! Give me some bragging rights! Does anyone know how many were sold in the U.S.? Or how I can find out? Thanks! BTW, the Off-Road Package which I am talking about came with the external spare and rear viscous LSD. It came only on the 4wd obviously, and mine is a manual transmission. My signature pic is dated, imagine my pleasure when I took off the spare tire cover and saw my matching alloy rim! Can't believe it made it past Nissan cost-cutting!
  17. NOOOOO!!!! Stop buying this crap! Silverstars are CRAP! There, I said it. Any bulb that costs $20 each and is tinted with a blue coating that reduces the life of the bulb to less than a year is retarded. Look online at the OSRAM Silverstar, it is the Euro version that is waaaay better. Much more light output, acclaimed by the press. These bulbs are the ticket. I have had several sets of the Sylvanias and they are crap. I finally wised up and bought Philips Vision Plus, a bit worse than the OSRAMs but no biggie. I wish I had the OSRAMs though.
  18. Well, if you have a 265mm tire, an 8" wheel is optimal, as is a 7'' wheel with a 245mm tire. My buddy has a 2001 GMC Sierra with 285/75 Dueler ATs on the 6.5" factory rim. The tire shop could barely do it, but nothing abnormal is noticeable, it just has a minimal affect on steering feel.
  19. Haha, dammit! Thanks for the link, I know everyone complains about AC and I can see how the complaints are valid. Would have saved me almost $10!
  20. Yes! I finally finished the install! It was worth it, all I needed were some connectors, a few feet of 16 gauge wire and a crimper, plus copious amounts of electrical tape. 20 minutes total for the two horns, and that includes all of the messing around. The sound of the new horns is a honk instead of a beep. There are a 400HZ and a 500HZ horn with the package. The sound is actually very close to the horn of my old Jeep Grand Cherokee. Since I have the cross-hatch grille the horns look cool and are quite visible from the front. They don't run the battery down, so I can have then go off when the car is locked remotely. For only $50 and, in my eyes, a necessary safety feature, it was money well spent. And to think the car stereo place wanted $100 just labor to do the job! Order the PIAA Sports Horns from AC now!
  21. I prefer the 265/70/16, which is what I have on mine. They are all around 30.6" in diameter, opposed to a 245/70-16 which is 30.5" in diameter. Those measurements are for the Bridgestone Dueler A/T Revos by the way. A 245 is made for our 7" rims, while the 265 is made for an 8" rim, but no biggie. The tires on mine, as you can see in my signature, are 265/70-16 National XT Commandos, which are better than you may think and are made by Yokohama. What tires are you planning on buying?
  22. Well, i bought the PIAA Sport Horn set from AC a week ago and it arrived in the mail. So I read the PIAA instructions on replacing my stock horns, and it seemed very easy... just cut a connector off of the factory wiring, and crimp a new 1/4" female blade connector and thats about it. I cut the wiring at the old factory connector, and find out that since the PIAA horns are so much larger than the factory horns, the wiring won't reach. To add insult to injury, the rubber insulator on the factory wiring came off in my hands, leaving a bare metal wiring hanging just below the radiator core support... Is this a hazard? Do i need to cover the wire or tape off the metal? I am hoping that Circuit City or another car audio place will install it, but one audio place said that these installs are $75- $125 per install, maybe more with this crap gone wrong. And everything said that this was easy! What do I do? What precautions do I need to take with that bare metal wire touching painted metal? Thanks!
  23. Hey man. I had this problem on a 1996 Jeep Grand Cherokee I had. It is the Brake Light switch. Not only are your brake lights sometimes staying on after driving, but they also stay on while driving, like you are riding the brakes and left-foot driving. Mine was located under the lower dash panel in the driver's foot well, near the OBD-II port. No clue of where the Pathy's is, but it should be near there. Hope you have a good back, but not a difficult job; mine was plug and play. The Jeep switch was $32 at the dealer. Good luck.
  24. Well, there is no such thing as a 255/75-16; if there was I would be all over it. My uncle is a tire distributor for Yokohama, so I get free Yokos! And I just learned all of this today!!! HAHA! Im so excited! Well, I have 265/70-16 National XT Commandos, an off-brand tire of decent quality made by Yokohama that came with the Pathy. They are fine for the summer weather but when the snow falls when I am at school in Indiana I will need the Geolandar ATs. 265/70-16 works great, and I have noticed no rubbing, even off-road at full flex. They are 30.6 inches in diameter.
