  1. I'll probably end up with the BFG's but they're so damn expensive! Billy
  2. So the new wheels are currently being bored out and will be ready next week so the hunt is on for tires. I really dig the BFG A/T's and had a set on my old exploder that went 70,000 miles without rotation. But there's lots of others on the market. Tirerack has the Firestone Destination A/T's rated as their #1 off-road tire. Does anyone have any experience with these tires? Since she's only 2WD the majority of my off-roading will be high speed desert stuff. They are significantly cheaper then the BFG's but don't look nearly as aggressive. Any help is appreciated. Billy
  3. So I was out in the high desert for the first time with the R50 and figured out that top mounts with 200,000 miles on them just might give way. I only lost the passenger side and the vehicle was still drivable. Every time I went over a pebble it sounded like two wooden bowls clashing. Obviously from the pics the bushing ripped right out, the drivers side is fine but was also replaced. It hasn't even been a month since I lifted and aligned it now it's gotta get aligned again, yay. Billy
  4. I got the Death Sway from the trailing arm bushings. Billy
  5. How many miles do you have on them? I've heard from a few that they don't last very long. Billy
  6. I have flown over small sharp speedbumps and long flatter ones and have yet to experience this. I guess I should consider myself lucky. Time to get the front end looked at though. Billy
  7. Right now it sounds like some bushings need to be replaced, is that what it's supposed to sound like? Billy
  8. I gotta say you and I have very similar taste. I was all about the Sidebiters and today found out that they won't work, my 2nd choice is the artillery but want to see what the black finish looks like. I spoke with Mt today and they said because of the backspacing and offset they'll NEVER work. I also found out why they're on back order but not from MT. Another wheel dealer said that when they created the molds they had the wrong backspacing and had to recall most of the rims produced. They're working on a new mold now and should be back into production soon. I really like the artillery but have a feeling that the teflon is going to be junk. One dude told me that it scratches easily and has a bit of a dull finish. I might back back to my first choice which is a lot more expensive. Billy
  9. Glad to see you're still alive! So far I'm really happy with the lift. As a whole it handles so much better and feels a lot more solid. Billy
  10. Thanks! Not to sound like a complete half-a-tard but I still don't quite understand what the strut top-out problem is. So far 80mph on the freeway seems normal. Billy
  11. It's 3" and that's what my wife said Billy
  12. So I finally lifted the QX4. Here's 2 before and after pics. Next on the list is 32's and some MT Side Biters. 2001 2WD QX4 - 3" lift KYB GR-2's up front NX4 1" spacers with welded in extended 3/8" hardware OME HD's all the way aorund 1" Mr Gasket Coil Spacers in the back BEFORE AFTER So waddaya think? Billy
  13. Nice job bro, looks good. BTW I've got family in Zahle, my Grandmother was born there. Billy
  14. Thanks I'm pretty stoked. I got the last of the part last week, the only thing we need now is the garage which should be next weekend. Then I travel down the dark road of tires and rims, at least I know what I want. How are you liking your setup so far? Do you know what your total hight is? The only thing I'm worried about is fitting in parking garages. Billy
  15. So here's the setup 2001 QX4 2WD KYB GR2's EMO HD springs for front and rear NX4 1" Spacers with welded extended bolts 1" Rear Coil spacers. So my goal is to get a 3" lift out of this. I figured since there is no front differential I won't get the tow truck look so might as well add another inch on each end. My buddy is hooking up a garage for us to do this in and he asked if I need to change my pinion angle and if so how many degrees? Thanks! Billy
  16. I've been thinking heavily about the side biters too, I had no idea there was such a lead time on them. Who were you ordering them form? Billy
  17. So I've got almost all of the components for my suspension lift, the last thing I need are shocks and it seems that bilstein are the way to go. So does anyone know of which ones to go with? I called 4x4 a while back and asked them which part number they use for the suspension lift packages and dude didn't know. I don't think he even knew where he was. Billy
  18. I've got 190,000+ miles on mine and it's running better then ever. The first time I did it I was at about 184,000 miles and it didn't cause any problems for my Q. I've also been adding marvel mystery oil into my gas tank for the last 5 fill-ups. Billy
  19. Said hose is actually really easy to find: Billy
  20. I've done it twice in a row and wanted to give it a break. I doubt that much carbon will be built up in 3-4K miles. Why waste the money? Billy
  21. I've done it to my 01 QX4 twice in the last 3 months and it's running great. You'll need someone to keep on the throttle because it will die when it starts sucking up through the vacuum line. As ronin said, if you're looking in your engine compartment there us a clamped hose, I think it's the brake booster line, in the back right that you can pull off with some pliers. Use 1/3 of a bottle in that line, 1/3 in your crank case where you add oil and 1/3 in your gas tank. Let it sit for 15min, drive 10-15 miles and change oil. I'll be doing it next oil change and then probably every 3rd oil change. Billy
  22. Dude! Thanks for the link, I just ordered a set. Now the last components I need are my rear coils which are on order and the NX4 spacers and I should have a 3" lift. So next question is will 33's fit or should I stick with 32's? Billy
  23. So would you recommend doing the double bumpstop trick for the rear? I don't know of any other way to get the rear up 3". Billy
  24. Dude I've been going through the same battle for the past 2 months. Right when you think you've got it down either you find something better or your taste changes. Billy
  25. Nice! I didn't think about going to the dealer, I'm sure the Pathy part is identical to the QX4 part. Do you have the part #? I've found them for as low as $389 shipped and they say that there's not drilling needed. If you've got pics of it installed please share. Billy
