  1. The shocks don't worry me too much, the only thing I'm really confused with is do I need to put on shocks that extend further to compensate for the more distant coils? Billy
  2. My current shocks and struts have about 30K miles on them. There's an offer out there for a set of used GR-2's with OME HD springs with only 3K miles on them. it would save a good deal of $, what do you think? BTW where do you go in Baja? My family has a place being built just south of Puerto Nuevo and we've got a boat in Puerto Salinas. I've been going down there a lot lately and would like to put my 2X to work. Billy
  3. So I've been all amped up about doing the lift and decided to go with the OME HD springs, GR2 struts, bilstein shocks, 16x8 Mickey Thompson Side Biter Wheels, and 265/75/R16 BFG A/T's. Unfortunately I worked this crazy job that made me realize that I need to drop $3K on a new laptop. So basically I won't be able to afford everything at once, but I can acquire 1 piece at a time and figured I'd start with the springs. So I've got crappy napa auto parts sensa-trac shocks and struts, would it be a bad idea to put the springs on with these components? What if I got the GR2's but left the shocks the same? Obviously I'd put in the OEM strut tower mounts and spacers but I'd definitely be at my limit. Thanks for the help! Billy
  4. I remember reading that on NICO. I didn't know it was a pro comp F that noise. So when going from 245/70R16 to a 265/75R16 does the speedometer need to be re calibrated? Should the Axles be re-geared? What exactly need to be done to get the most out of the vehicle without dropping a ton of cash? Billy
  5. Thanks for all the info everyone. I used to have 31/10.5/15 BFG A/T's on my old exploder and they went about 75,000 miles. After going to a few different tire shops they all seem to recommend different brands mostly knock offs of the BFG A/T's. I think I'll end up going with the BFG's after all. the ProComps seem like much more aggressive tires but also sound a lot less reliable. As I stated in the first post this will be for mostly highway driving with the occasional trip down to Baja, I really wish I had a 4X4, thanks Nissan for making it an option, lame. Billy
  6. So I'm thinking about putting pro-comps on but don't know anyone that's used them. Here's the 2 models I'm looking at, mostly street driving with the occasional baja 2X. The Xtreme's have a 40,000 mile warranty and the Radials come with a 50,000. Tire size I'm looking at is 275/75/R16. Xtreme All Terrain Radial All Terrain Thanks for the feedback! Billy
  7. What if I use wheel spacers, will that fix the problem? I thought I saw someone on here that had a 4.75" BS on their wheels but I could be wrong. Billy
  8. I just found out that they make it in a 16x8 and it's only about $10 more and has a 0mm offset and 4.5" backspacing, sound do-able? Billy
  9. I dig them too, after hours of looking at crappy wheel after crappy wheel online I saw these and said, "I think that's them" How about caliper rub? Dude said it would rub because the way the wheel was cut. Billy
  10. Sorry I must have missed that thread. Thanks! I'm planning on running either 275-75-15's or 32-11.5-15's. I went to Big-O tires on friday to see if I could get a price on these rims: Dude at the desk called someone regarding availability and told me that my calipers would rub, does this sound right? Can I get wheel spacers to fix this issue or maybe grind down the calipers? Here's the specs: Rim Diameter (in): 15 in. Rim Width (in): 8.00 in. Backspacing (in): 3.750 in. Offset (mm): -19.00mm Wheel Material: Aluminum Wheel Finish: Teflon® Wheel Construction: 1-piece Beadlock Included: No Beadlock Functional: No Lug Nut Seat Style: Conical seat - 60 degree Lug Nut Shank Diameter (in): in. Washer Outside Diameter (in): in. Hub Centric: No Center Cap Included: No Valve Stems Included: No Recommended Valve Stem: 7/16 in. pull-through Thanks guys! Ohh yeah how do you think they would look on an 01 black with silver trim QX4? Billy
  11. [DISCLAIMER] I did a search and didn't find the answer. So I'm looking at wheels and found one that I think I like and it's got a backspacing of 3.75". From what I've read it seems that the lower the number the farther the wheel sticks out, is this correct? Will a 3.75" BS work with the standard 2" lift? Thanks guys! Billy
  12. Thanks guys! If I worked for dynamat then I'd still be able to get it wholesale, damn! It does sound pretty solid though, it was a lot of work but well worth it. My main reasoning for it was really to diminish road noise, and it worked! Billy
  13. Thanks for the welcome guys. I gotta say this seems like a good place to be with a much friendlier interface. The company doesn't seem half bad either So if I don't want to take off the bumpers and maybe replace the running-boards with tubing what's the biggest I can go with the 2"er? I'd like to put the 285's on but afraid that I'll limit the already sh!tty sh!tty turning radius. Billy
  14. Hi everyone, I'm Billy and I'm a QX4/Pathy-aholic. Here's my soon to be lifted 187,000 mile 2001 QX4 with audio upgrades and 2 layered dynamat in all 4 doors, tailgate, headliner and hood, the floor is next on the list. Billy
  15. Hey everyone first post here, came from NICO. So it's time for new tires and can't hurt to change out suspension so I'm going to do the 2" AC Lift. I've got an 01 QX4 2WD with stock 16x7" rims. I've been checking the forums and manufacturers sites and can't figure out if my rims are wide enough for 32's. Do I need new rims and with the lift and will I be able to fit 285's? I'm guessing that the answer is no to both but have a glimmer of hope that I can save some $$$ on the rims. Thanks! Billy
