  1. Snow when you are climbing a snow hill sometimes you need sprint instead of crawling it , and you need to go on 4wh , instead of 4wdl Same goes for hill climbs ( long hills ) where at the peak of the hill the WD might loose speed and lose momentum while the R50 will have enough power to get it thru For Mud the faster your run is the lesser your chances are to get stuck The R50 will accelerate much faster than the WD which gives it the advantage where sprint is needed specially where you don’t have enough space to run and gain the speed before tackling any of the above mentioned obstacles . Having said that my preference in offroad will still be for crawling rocks and crossing ditches wherethe R50 is disadvantaged.
  2. In cases where you need sprint , sand dunes , snow , mud , hill climbs ... R50 will have the advantage True as i already said in ditches and rocks the wd will have the advantage .
  3. Not intending to go offtopic , you can order the H3 with anything you want and it will still be overweighted , oversized and not worth the money spent on it both on road and offroad .
  4. As bigred07 explained that's the point , and not to compare an H3 with an R50 which are both form different categories . The R50 will outperform any wd in the desert and in some snowy conditions , while the wd will outperform the R50 on rocks and ditches . I personally would love to put a challenge between an R50 and a WD on different offroad sections and compare stock to stock offcourse .
  5. Nop it shouldn't rub , the difference in height between the 245/65/17 you have and the proposed 245/70/17 would be plus 1.2 cm .
  6. Nah i dont think it is a fair comparison , plus it is an insult to the R50 to have the H3 and the R50 on the same side of comparison .
  7. X 2 Yeah they overheat when you wheel them in the boiling sahara sands with high rpm Oups am I starting it
  8. Glad to watch this video , welcome back mr jim . NPORA prooved to be a very special community , congrats to all and specially to those who took the intitiative and put their time and effort to make it happen .
  9. If you are going with 255 i suggest you dont use the spacers , keep you suspesion original
  10. With one inch lift , have 265 / 75 / R16 you will need to remove the mud gurds and you are ok may rub a bit on full turn but who cares , that is if you do not go offrod and flex ur paty . If you offroad it then you are in problem on flex my 265's touched the bumper and movewd it out of its place . Choice is yours if you want to risk it or not .
  11. The argument is long on this one but hey I have to step in for the R50 I have owned several offroad purpose built vehicles and offroaded them starting from the FJ 40 – FJ60 the new FJ , 4 runner , G wagon When I first bought Paty it was for my wife for her daily driving and now that I took over Paty and drove her first time over offroad she has become my daily driver and offroader . To tell a few of what and where I have gone with my R50 and where my opinion about her is coming from : - On road : I have driven paty for a 2250 km stretch drive non stop the engine was never switched off all the way from Qatar to Lebanon with a speed reaching 180 – 190 km in Saudi open roads and I was quite pleased with her performance , 26 hrs the engine is running we started from desert weather in Qatar and end up in the snowy weather in Lebanon I also drive her on daily basis for my work and a lot f city driving , she handles like a sports car on the city roads . - Off road : I have driven her over sand dunes , rocks , mud and snow and I was always keeping up yet sometimes leading the way for X terras , LC 100 , Wranglers , 4 runners , H3 , Nativa , Frontier , Patrol , Fortuner …. u name it I have put my R50 into every kind of terrain on offroad and travelled across borders as well as city driving and one word I can say I am delighted with her performance . When comparing price vs quality Paty stands out . Mods : I have my 2”lift and I can tell the difference already , and all what I need now is an ARB locker to make up for the open diffs in the mountain areas when needed . I consider my R50 and all purpose vehicle . When I am on road I will still enjoy the way Paty handles the road like a sports car . When offroad I am glad to know I will be driving among other rigs whom have to compensate their ride comfort and performance on the road to gain a bit of advantage over my Paty in offroad . The driver has a big impact and so does the vehicle , one will complete the other . We have a lot of examples on this board to prove how reliable and capable the R50 is , just have to browse a bit R 50 vs other Nissans ( Patrol / X terra / R51 ) , with no offense to any other product , they are still great cars - R50 vs Patrol : I have enough space inside my cab not to use a patrol and my consumption is less , my ride is more comfortable and I have much less weight to carry , my wheel base is better for offroad - R50 vs X terra : I prefer my coil springs to the leaf springs , I prefer my manual auxiliary gear shift to the X electrical gear shift ( in more than one case the 4wd gets disconnected mainly when on sand dunes ) , my 3.5 l engine provides me with enough power that I need for my on road and offroad driving , I trust the reliability of Japanese product more than the American one - R50 vs R51 : wont ever trade my solid axle with independent suspension , I have much better approach and departure angles , I trust the reliability of Japanese product more than the American one , I can less for loads of electronics , my 3.5 l engine provides me with enough power that I need for my on road and offroad driving , I am more light weighted and I don’t need to have 7 seats , I don’t look like wana be an armada I spoke my mind towards the R50 , sorry for the long write up but I have a lot to tell about my R50
  12. If I was in your shoes i wouldn't hesitate spending the money on her specially after serving you all these km without letting you down . And she is good looking too , as the others said too spend a little more and have her lifted . When i first did my OME lift i didn't think there was much of a difference , but then when i drove it offroad i felt the difference specially that i have no lockers .
  13. I am planning for BFG A/T , SINCE bfg M/T are not available in this region no one imports them incluidng the dealers I'de be carefull for the time being while wheeling , till i consume the current dunlops and will make a change of wheels and tires when it is possible Really , good to know that , next thing maybe we're related hehehehe Zahle ya dar el salam
  14. I am running OME lift kit , it provides much more than 0.5 inch my truck stand higher by 2” I am still not sure if it will settle further more I am having the lift kit for about 5000 km for now . With 31.5 “tires fitted in after the lift I have a total of 10 cm difference Check this thread it shows you how it will stand next to a stands next to a stock one http://www.nissanpathfinders.net/forum/index.php?showtopic=22826 Difference is not too big but considerable , the only advantage I got is to fit 31” tires without having to rub or destroy further the bumpers when flexing in off-road
  15. How about this burger you can start eating it from Breakfast till dinner hahaha Biggest Bacon Burger
  16. It's a Bacon ThinG I would never understand Bacon Club TEE Shirts Valentine Gift For each one his bacon style
  17. I have the OME 2”suspension lift , I wont be able to tell much as I have only done 1500 km with the lift on .
  18. Congrats , a very nice looking car , I am sure you will miss the mighty LC when I bought mine the sales man at the show room was asking if I was sure I want to go for a brand new older model while the newer model is hitting the market in a couple of month . I believe for a family choice the R51 is a nice SUV but for someone who goes for off-road the R50 is a better choice . 4 years down the line I am still enjoying the simplicity of the R50 and her durability .
  19. Yes it is including the new tires , old tires were 29" , new tires are 31.5 " , still need to wait till the lift settles I beleive you're right , need ot reduce the CC amount before changing the wheels . Yep it is the flex that ripped my bumper before i lifted it Offset vs wheel spacer ? which one to plan for ? Also planning for a change from the Dunlopp tires ( poor performance ) to the BF All terrain tires
  20. There is an old say ( Nothing scratches you skin like your own nails ) , i feel like shoving the old alternator ..... Ridiculously this is the monopoly the agents play here in such countries , with no privilege of competition or after market suppliers easy deliveries for online shopping all has to fly the continent to reach here . Noting that the duty is only 5% here they have no reason to thief this way but again monopoly rules
  21. I was in Lebanon and my mechanic already had taken it out of dealer ship so I had to pay , otherwise i could have gotten it from Lebanon for some 200 $ I can say that I was raped
  22. Thanks Simon for the info , i am not noticing anything indicating a ball jpint failure nor a camber loose so i can rest assured till next service i'll have her checked Thanks Fleurys I look forward to test her off- road but with temperatures reaching 49 celsius in City I guess we will burn in desert
  23. For the first time in 4 years Paty let me down . Last week end on my way to airport , to catch up the early flight Paty suddenly stopped accelerating and the speed went down to 20 km at full throttle and the dash board light became like the Christmas tree I managed to cross the remaining distance to airport crossing signal lights and 4 lane roads at the speed of 20 km It was the alternator who had clocked 85000 km that died in a heart attack . Being away I asked the company mechanic to fix it before I get back and he calls me to inform me he got the alternator from the dealer at 1095 $ asked him to return it back the dealer refused to take back an electrical part after long negotiations he let it for 958 $ Ouch that was hurting my pocket but after fixing it I could feel the difference as Paty responds faster to my foot on the accelerator .
  24. Thanks Tek and Silverpathy . The rubbig is not with the strut it is rubbing with the front mud guard , theone that is pinned ot the bumper it is plastic rubing with rubber no problemo and offset wheels or spacers are good and will look good but i will live with that now , maybe will have them on Santa's wish list hehe
  25. There she is lifted , at the beginning I didn’t feel the difference in height , until I took few pictures next to my colleagues Pathy running on 255/ 70 R 16 Over all the difference is about 10 cm from the silver one without the side steps it is even greater clearance than the stock pathy . I have been away and didn’t get a chance to try her off-road , but I can report that on road the ride got stiffer naturally and the balance on Pathy is great , no vibration , a cool ride . I am not sure if the tiny gap between the tire and the strut is normal but so far it has not touched or rubbed Though the tire still rubs the front mud guard on the front bumper when reversing at full steering but who cares Paty Just Got taller
