Yes thgey are costly and I hate the Boling Bling they do for them , I have waited till 23 to buy an 1981 model and now i am 31 i am also buying a 1991 , I bet you those kids don't know their real value .
-
Not at all today I am receiving the OME 2"lift kit for Paty .

Lol well it was difficult to choose between the Kia and the Benz i counted till ten and the Benz won

It will take me time , due to lack of parts in this region but eventually this is what I am aiming for Short wheel base are good , but i like to have enough space and still love the long wheel base on ditches as it has always a wheel in the air She will be lifted once I finish the restoration , I need to order the parts from ORC , she can take 35”tires once I have a 2”lift on her , the reason it comes with stock lockers and solid axles is due to it's military origin some army still use them like the Canadian Army in Afghanistan and they do outperform Hummers You’re information are quite correct about the G wagon the old military series were coded as 460 series , starting from 1990 they introduced the more civilian version the 463 series , which means the one I have is one of the pioneer models of the civilian version and as you mentioned it would be hassle free with it’s simple engineering . Hey I had restored previously an 1981 model of them unfortunately I had to sell it , as you said not much has changed on this truck Mercedes have been building them strong since 1979 . Here some pics of the restored 1981 model with a facelift I did to him which makes it look newer , I used to call him Bluewhale as he was OLD , Slow , Loud Heavy and Reliable and can travel anywhere Restored with the original look Face lifted to the new Look I agree with Fueler , those engines are easier to understand and can take you anywhere the new complicated delicate engines do . Yes I am a Lebanese expatriate working in Qatar , I do get back home for holidays You may match them in offroad but they still has the Mercedes Luxury while matching a modified SUV performance , when they are still stock . Beavis you are right , they do assemble them manually but not all of them though , the new ones specially the ones done for USA as mentioned by Go Pathy are not , and have a lot of electronic problems. It was junked because the previous owner just left it by the road side for many years under the sun and dust and the municipality impounded it and junked it . Not many people values this car

I know it is not a Pathy , it is in my opinion the best built 4x4 and I am sharing you my joy of finding one in this land where people hardly know about the G wagon and consider it an ugly car I was a G wagon once and had to sell it but the G is an addiction and once you fall in love with the G it is hard to keep away from the world’s best 4x4 ever built , and here I found a G whom I had saved from the Junkyard and willing to start the restoration process , it is going to be a long way but I am glad to start it . Here are some photos of My 300 GE 1991 model clocked 145,000 km and has been thrown away in the Junkyard for 2 years . I found the original owner worked on the paper work and now I have to work on it . First thing I have done before attempting to start it , I had dropped down the fuel tank and cleaned it and changed the fuel pipes . The vehicle is still not started need to work on the injectors hopefully tomorrow I will have the engine running and do my first test drive before I start the restoration process I still haven’t decided on the colour it is original colour is green turquoise like Mortinson’s G but I am intending to change the colour your suggestion of colours are welcomed , my choices are between : black – white – or olive green All suggestions on restoration are welcomed

I have no idea , but i know that the chairs are comfy

How sure ? very sure . I am the owner of the those two vehicles and i know what size of rims and tires i have on them . FJ comes with 16" wheels and those wheels i have on my Paty are 16" no question about it .

Does it have to be 1 year and +100 posts ? I passed the 100 posts but I will still have to wait for a long time to become an NPORA memebr then , isn't there a short cut ?

XPLORx4 , you’re right the mud guards in the back needs to be removed too but at flex it will still rub against the bumper and the fender flares a lift is much needed now Hahahaha to the Boy flares fskcinitupagain I would love to remove this back piece of plastic but then I will become street illegal , more so I would love to increase my departure angle and have an ARB bumper there but they don’t have a dealer here , the closest dealer is in UAE and they are very very very inefficient not to say something else BowTied , those are 16” I had replaced my factory rims with these ones . 01Silvapathy

It Just Poped Out , with more wheelin the R50 is getting lighter , first off with the side steps , Mud Guards and now with the suggestion to remove the bumper hehehe I'll be street illegal

Hahahaha those are colonel Fred Chairs , foldable and very comfy

Well I had my 265 x 75 x 16 on my FJ for 5000km they were looking small on the FJ , so I upgraded the FJ into 33”All Terrain and decided to have the 31”Dunlops that came with the FJ on my R50 without having a lift on it . ( Following ALex hint ) They fitted but the rubbing was hard in the front so I had to remove the Mud guards . At full steering I was still getting some rubbing on the from bumper but nothing serious . I took it offroading this Friday and when I was flexing on unlevelled ground this was the result the bumper got pushed out of its place . Take a closer look The difference was very clear during offroad Paty was taking Paths that were a No No with the small 255 x 65 x 16 . Well I think you can getaway with 31” without a lift on the tarmac but if you intend to go offroad then at least an 1” lift would be necessary and a 2” would be ideal .

Saw a member's videos on youtube , her truck inspired me , had not seen R50 modified and in action before , i inquired about R50 MODS and she directed me to NPORA .
-
Yes I also noticed that the parts are tagged different then the ARB site and they were unable to answer many of my questions . I got a quick reply from them that the order is cancelled . I will contact steevo for more details as I wish to go for 2” to fit 31”tires on her while the ruged rocks site mentions .75 “for back and .5’for front . Tekazgtr thanks for indicating another supplier i will try them in case things doesn't work out with steevo .
-
I ordered from Rocky Roads , i will cancel the order and contact Steevoo , would be my preference to work with an NPORA member .

Oups I may have confused

I have driven it from Qatar to Lebanon 2250 KM , crossed 4 borders , speed was reaching 190 km/h on Saudi international road I have not switched off the engine the entire journey it took me 24hr Non stop to complete my voyage , Oil was still good No shortage no water shortage . And drive the same way back a round trip of 5000 km excluding the holidays at home The weather and road conditions varied completely , I started from Qatar 35 Celsius , KSA temperature was getting higher during the day and dropping to -2 Celsius at night with open dry roads , speed reaching 190 km/h Reaching Lebanon to face slippery icy roads and storms , Paty was ready to handle any terrain and weather condition we travelled together off with a full load . The Negative points I had noticed : Having an XE-S model without cruise control was a pain in the leg driving these long distances . Patty was noisy on the desert open roads u could feel the wind leaking from the windows , can’t say she was air tight

Can you recommend lift suppliers for R50 's . I have placed an order for 1.75”OME kit with front 0.5”spacer from Rocky Roads but things are not moving in the desired way I am considering cancelling the order . I know one member on this forum is from Rocky Roads and I hope this comment will be taking seriously to enhance customer service . Appreciate your help as my factory suspension is tired after 80,000 km and need to replace asap , tires are also pending replacement till the lift is in place .

Cool trail and it is cool to see an Infinity on a trail . Is it my eyes or is this truck having beadlocks ?
-
I'm Getting tempted and i may risk my bumper to add a picture or a video Yeah no recovery but the weight is massive when towing such a big truck you can feel Pathy's body stretching hehehe
-
Another proof that the R50 is a tough truck , the other day one of the company trucks needed to be towed into the workshop , so I volunteered Pathy to do the towing , it is a 8 tons Actros 3348 double axled truck . Needless to say I went in 4 low and L1 gear it was amazing to feel that monster weight being pulled by the light Paty on the curve front tire was hardly getting traction and the back ones really stressed , but no wheel spin was there and Paty did great . Too bad no camera was available to shoot it , I would have done it another time if not for the bend caused on my back bumper due to lack of towing points on Paty and the difference in the elevation of Pathy’s lower towing point to the Actros higher towing point .

The D22 snorkel looks much better on the truck. Did you take pictures while fitting it ?
