  1. I'm waiting for the admin to approve me. then the tormenting begins

    Me too!

    EDIT: and still waiting........................

EDIT No 2: I bet we do not get our activation, that is why there are no posts on the site despite all the "users".

Wonder if it is a scam to get valid e-mails? Good thing I have an e-mail just for this type of junk site.

  2. Nice job and it does suit the rest of the wood treatment quite well. I have never been a fan of fake wood (gee, I am a forestry type, so I guess I just like real wood  ), I grew up with real wood in some of the English cars my dad seem to get once in awhile. But in your Q, it looks right at home.

And how did you do it without making a mess of the airbag? It is well done, nice and clean.

  3. I have a friend with a Frontier that had similar issues around his radiator support.

But you do not hear it being as big an issue as it is proving to be with the FJ, and a new design to boot.

  4. yeah i know that thread, i posted it too...

i've now got the wiring harness....but i was asking about where people tied in, other than just plugging into the stock harness.

next step is just to tear the side panels off and go to it, just a pain to take off all that plastic

It was not that bad, the side panels do not need to come off completely.

And I never did find a way to get the harness out of the body, I just let it hang out the bottom of the gate when I use it. Wonder how the stock harness is done

  5. I have done my searches and gone through the threads and don't think this was answered. From what I can see, it appears a 30.5" diameter tire is the max you can go without lifting or cutting. I have 17" rims, and was wondering if a narrower tire such as BFG AT LT245/75R17/E will still fit inside the front wheel well without hitting the strut and giving me close to full wheel lock? Or am I dreaming?

    Thanks

    QX

My 245/75R/16 snow tires rub just a wee bit. I doubt that a tire an entire inch taller will fit. But why not try one? My tire shop allows that, they will mount a tire and check out clearances.

  6. OK. Retarded question, but how do I go about taking the glass windows out of my R50? I plan on getting some el-cheapo window tint from walmart, and when I saw the results my friend got when he tried to just stick it on his windows, I couldnt believe how ****** it looked...

I figure that I can get much better results if I actually remove the entire window, set it on the floor on a blanket, and put the sticky dark plastic on ALOT better that way.

...so how do I get these things out?

I have heard the rear quarter windows are almost impossible to get out. Somewhere on the forum is a post by someone who was parting out his R50 and he could not get those windows out.

So go the tint route as all else have suggested. We got our Sienna done for less than $300 CDN, through the Toyota dealer when we bought the van. They sub'd it out to a local guy.

So if you need advise on someone to do it, ask your friendly Nissan dealer who they use.

  7. All the kids in the neighborhood standing around the main Cable box for the street because they figured out they can tap the Comcast WI-FI with their Nintendo DS's.... I do give them credit for ingenuity...

Anything special about that? So I can teach my son and daughter how to do it with their Ds's :crossedwires:

No one is talking about a pat on the back or who's right or wrong, I am looking to see the 'fix' of a problem. IMO, taking from the pool of knowledge but not putting anything back in it will only cause it to run dry. I would like to deepen it.

Not saying you are. For the most part, this forum is great that way, we all seem to genuinely want to help without requiring any ego boosting. Some others I am on, some posters get very miffed if they do not get a big thank you.

BTW, the thread around this same topic on the train forum I mentioned earlier has been deleted, it just got too out of control so the mod deep six'ed it.

WOW TRAINMAN THAT POST WAS AWESOME!!

88, you are right, some people are only here for an answer... even so, if I''m the next guy with the same issue, it would be nice to know that Trainman's excellent suggestion actually worked, and that it wasn't just a dead end.

Awww, shucks, now you made me blush :blush02::blush:

  8. Wonder if V6 has an interest in trains? This exact same topic was posted on one of the train forums I frequent. It also got a wide range of answers. I liked this idea best:

I am not here to get pats on the back or to show off my superior intellect/knowledge. If what I post is helpful, then great but I do not need the poster to come back and say "Wow trainman what an awesome answer you gave me, all my troubles are gone!"

It would be nice to know when the answers are wrong or not helpful (with me that would be most of the time) so I can improve my knowledge but if they do not reply back, then so be it. It used to annoy me but I now know there are better things to worry about.

  9. Welcome as well.

And I also recommend the Black Panther skids, and they are Canadian so you save on some shipping/duty costs (plus they seem to be way better than what else is out there).

I have heard there are some good trails in the Chilliwack area (ie Veder Mt.). And check out this site for some local general off-road info: 4x4 BC

  10. Thanks Trainman, I think I tread that post and told the guy it should not take longer than 3 hours. He then gets a hold of a mechanic and told me it a all day thing. Those guy are a joke.

If I recall right, my mechanic said the book time was 3 hours, so that was going to be max they were going to charge (even if took longer, I am so glad I have a shop I can trust). I suggest you try an independent shop and see what you get.

  11. Well, at least you guys have the Xtrail, we didn't here in the US.

Correction, HAD the Xtrail. Now discontinued in Canada. Some pretty good deals on left over 2006's if you can find one, I have heard up to $7,000 discounts being given.

  12. I went to the dealer two weeks ago. Told them if they could check it out as well. They looked at me and asked why and that they never heard of this problem on pathfinders. On the sentra, yes but not the trucks. then the concluded to tell me it would take 4.5 to 5 hours and cost around 400 bills. I hate stealerships. Decided not to have it done. Now I do not know what to do. Thinking of going to my friend who is a mechanic or another person that works on 350Z but he's a bit far.

Check out this post, only 2.7 hours for me: link

  13. You may also want to look at the new Michelin LTX AT2 Light Truck Tire.

    michelin_ltx_jb_23-5426.jpg

You can check out a review here: Michelin LTX review

It is a direct competitor for the both the Goodyear Wrangler SA and the Bridgestone Dueler A/T Revo.

    Some thoughts from the review:

"The Michelin LTX A/T2 tire is targeted at a market where the buyers are tire savvy. They own a light truck or SUV and are willing to pay a premium for the ability to have both great on and off-road performance. Typically, these buyers are also seeking a tire that is durable and has the ability to carry heavy loads. Last, but not least, light truck tire buyers are looking for an aesthetically-pleasing tire, something that says "I like to go off-roading": a tire that looks rough and tough but still rides quietly on the highway."
