  1. Yeah if you are in Cali, just go to an auto zone and borow a code reader.
  2. Alright, I filed up yesterday and managed to drive just 34 miles. I filled up to the brim today and calculated the mpg. so far it was 15.5. not the greatest and probably not the most accurate but it gives me high hopes. wil post later on next week when i go through a full tank. I really hope changing the coolant sensor worked. I would hate to do the O2 sensor removal and claning. there are 4 of them!!!!!
  3. Still working on it Dank, I semi cleaned off the throttle body and the MAF (I sprayed it with carb cleaner then used compressed air to dry it) and now im looking into maybe changing the water temp. I read on another post that sometimes this is the cuprid. I also borowed a code reader from auto zone but thre were no codes. I figure I want to do this this weekend and test it out Sunday or monday. Any more input? seems like I should be getting at least 15mpg
  4. Can you clean the o2 sensor with just carb ceaner? Why do you have to heat it up? Jason
  5. Sorry, I dont think I explained myself correctly. I was addressing this part (quote) From what I understood you were saying that 2" plus 3" on your truck would be the reason why the mileage would decrease. I was thinking you meant that gas mileage would take a dump based on the height of the vehicle because of the bigger tires. I was not taking into account the wind and basic air resistance. I do understand now though. No accountng for the wind, Im ust trying to compare to your rigs. I figure my truck is stock height and the tires are only about a little more than an inch higher than stock. I have no cage on top. Pretty stock vehicle otherwise. I just cant figure out why the bad mileage. The pathy runs great, engine is strong, no vibration, steady as a rock. Hopefully the cleaning of the MAF will help. Jason
  6. Thanks Dank, Cleaned out the MAF, there wasnt much to be dirty but I used some carb cleaner to clean the wires. I also sprayed some carb cleaner into the throtle body, some carbon deposits came out from the buterfly. I didnt want to take it apart couse I dont have the gaskets for it. Hope it helps. Thanks
  7. I see what your saying, but do you think the lift would have any bearing on the mileage? From what I know I think only the wheel diameter would effect the mileage because the engine would have to work a little harder to turn the wheel. Why would the lift on the truck effect the mileage?
  8. are you guys quoting me mileage on 4x4 pathfinders?
  9. Thanks guys, well I have 18" wheels with 255 55 r 18 according to the whel conversion web site the original size 235 70 15 the diameter is 27.95 and the new diameter with the new wheels 255 55 18 is 29.04. The funny thing on the spedo is that it used to read a little under now its right on according to my GPS. As for the heavy foot, not that heavy really, I get bad gas mileage even on the freeway at 65-70 mph any suggestions on how to clean the maf and throttle body ? Do you guys think the tires would make a big difference? I do have a sub box and amps but thats it.
  10. Hi guys, I have a 97 Pathfinder and my gas mileage sucks!!!! I know that these trucks suck gas but the highest I have ever goten is 14mpg :o . We went on a gross country trip and I averaged about 13mpg. I live in Southern Cali, SF valley and its been hot so I have been running the AC a lot. Is this normal? I filled up yesturday and I calculated 12.5 mpg. I recently changed the plugs and wires, fuel and air filter, I did the cold air intake mod and same thing. on my road trip I did use ac most of the way. Any ideas? I heard that these trucks get 19 on the highway and 16 on the street but I get nowhere near thatstudy- . Any help would be apriciated. thanks - Jason

  17. Quick update, Just ordered my flares, hopefully they will be here by the end of the week. got them for about $314 shipped from Michigan. Any tips on installing them? I plan to paint them white to match the truck before I put them on. Thanks for everyones help. Jason
  18. XPLORx4, I do like the way the flares look on your rig. How do they mount? Glue? And where did you find the for $300? I cant seem to find them for under $360. Your rig has changed from the original on your web site. Its really nice. Can ask you about how much you paid for your siver star rims? the 108s. I like those thinking of getting some in the future. XPLORx4, one more thing, that link on the auto customizers, the flares for $304, are they EGR? are they coparable? Thanks Jason
  19. Thanks, Damn they are expensive. Thre has to be some used one somewhere
  20. Hey All :type: I have a 97 Pathy LE. It came withought the fender flares. I just installed some OME coils all the way around. It has definetly improved the ride height and feel of the whole car. The problem is There is too much space now in the wheel wells. Its a street Pathy and I have some 255/55/18 wheels on it. I need some flares to cover up whe wheel well space. I want it to lok as stock as possible. Any suggestions? Will the flares off an XE fit? Any help appriciated. thanks Jason :help:
  21. Parking light is what I meant. I corrected it. 01 pathy, why dont you just buy a test light at the local autoparts store? Its prety easy to figure out the wire on the relay female ends where the relay plugs in. Im just talking about a on off tester nothing fancy. Jason
  22. As we all know the driving lights com on only with the headlights and shup off with the high beam on. I read a post a while ago on how to modify the relay for the driving lights on a pathy to stay on with the switch. What I didnt like about this set up is that I might forget to turn them off and the buzzard did not warn me about it. What I did today is wired them with the parking lights so that the buzzard will still come on if I forget to turn them off. Here is what I did: (this is on a 97LE, your wiring might be different) 1. Open the fuse box under the hood on the drivers side. Look at the top and figure out which is the relay that controls the fog/driving lights. 2. remove the relay and get a tester. Hook the tester to a ground. 2 sides of the relay mount should do nothing. One should stay on with 12dc and the other will come on only when the head lights low beams are on. It will turn off if the high beams are on or the lights are off. This is teh wire we want. 3. take off the relay box and flip it around, remove the bottom and note which is the wire that goes to that terminal that turns on and off with the head lights. Note the color of the wire. On mine it was a red with a black strip and silver dots. 4. Cut the wire loom somewhere away from the fuse box and find that wire. Test it again if you want to make sure its the same wire 5. Cut the wire. 6. Now take off the drivers side parking light (one screw on top and pull out). 7. Tap into the red wire and run that wire to the wire we just cut and attach it to the end coming from the relay block. I just used those blue taps. 8. Replace the relay box and tape the wire loom. Run new wire lom to protect you new wire. Replace the blinker assembly. 9. You should be all set. The driving lights should nw turn on with the parking lights regardless of the head lights being on, off, or high beem. Good Luck Jason
  23. I have a 97 and I just installed the OMEs on the rear. Its nice but the front is much lower and softer. I ordered the front OMEs and should receive them Wednesday. I just went with Monroe gas charged shocks. I got them from Davsport. They were pretty quick on shiping. Called Rocky and they wernt sure when it would @!*% so I went with Davesport Jason
  24. Thanks for the advise guys. Im getting two things here onle longer bump stops the other shorter. Mine are long and the 1" clearance is between the axle and the bump stop. The coils I installed are from a 2004 and the bump stops are the factory ones that came with the vehicle I think. The truck is very harch specially when I right over quick bumps the whole inside shakes. I heard these trucks are supposed to be smother than the avarage truck but the pathy rides like a truck I have new shocks Gabriels in the back and Monroes in the front. Any ideas on where to get those airbags cheaper anyone? Manual is fine for me. Thanks Jason
  25. I thought about buying medium ome coils. Will that make a noticible difference in height verses the fromt which has stock coils?
