  1. The hood arangement is slightly different but i am confident the battery is in the exact same spot. Also if you dont wanna pay for the yellow top im pretty sure you can just go for the red top optima.
  2. Ya strut bearing is what Im thinkin. I heard that with time the strut bearing can eventually rust out especially in areas where salt is used. But getting your vehicle rust proofed can help slow the process of the bearing rusting, it is also a good lubricant for it, but thats just what i've heard.
  3. I considered ball joints but ruled them out when i jacked up the finder and grabbed the wheel by the top and bottom and felt for play but couldn't feel any, but i need an oil change soon and dont feel like changing it with piles of snow on the ground, so im gonna get a mechanic to see what they think.
  4. ya thats what i was thinking too i only got 126km on the truck, my dads 97 pathy i think he replaced the struts at like 140km but i dont know if he had a clunk too. But oh well i might just live with it till the struts need replacing, then i'll throw on some KYB's
  5. Hey everyone Im still having a problem with a clunk in my front end, I replaced the sway bar bushings and links as one link did in fact fail, but i still get a clunk from time to time. I was thinking i just need my front strut assembly rebuilt, new insulators, bearings and such, has anyone had a problem like this? and did the strut rebuild help? The thing is my struts are original but they dont leak and they dont feel soft. any thoughts? thanks
  6. hey dont mean to thread jack...but has anyone gotten a power steering flush?? is it really worth it...i worked at a chrysler dealership and i use to do em a lot, just wondering if anyones tried it on there pathy. thanks
  7. I got a set of 16" rims off a chilkoot if you are interested
  8. wow... looks like a lot of thought was put into that post, hopefully you read over that post many times before hand to make sure the grammer was ok.
  9. If it's only a small leak it could just be a split hose, try looking around the evap canister and see if one of the hoses are split, also jsut throwing this out there could the gas smell be related to the gas filler tube recall on these trucks??
  10. Did it say what kind of leak it was, most of the time it will say if it's a small, medium or large leak.
  11. The valve is located on the passanger side of the engine and is located right on top of the valve cover, it's very difficult to see as its right near the fire wall and you most likely have to remove the upper and lower intake manifold collector.
  12. ya man, the pathy looks great, I always wanted Xterra wheels for my pathy
  13. R50, I had the exact same problem as I have an 03 chilkoot as well. I ended up just goin with the bushwackers street style dosent give you much tire coverage but gives the truck more appeal. You can also try AC customizers I talked to the guy and he told me they have flares for the 96-99 pathfinders with 1.5" tire coverage, dont mind the years though bushwacker claims there flares are for the 96-99 pathfinders but still fit on mine. good luck
  14. The dealership charged me $80 canadian bones for a drain and fill. So do all the 96-04 pathfinders not have a transmission filter?? cause i was gonna do the service myself next time around and was gonna drop the pan. I found a kit online that gives you a new gasket, filter and o-ring and was gonna give it a try, but i might just stick to drain and fills if there is no filter.
  15. sweet thanks for the help... i'll give the punch and hammer a try hopefully i dont mess anything up
  16. Just too add to thiss, Im gonna be replacing my rotors soon as well and I am wondering how some of you got the lock nut off. Do i need a special tool or can i get away with using a punch and hammer? the only thing that worries me about that is how am i gonna be able to torque it to specs when putting the bearings back in. Also i went to canadian tire and they have a special lock nut tool for the 96 4runner and tacoma, anyone know if that'll work?? thanks
  17. The two front flares do screw into the factory holes but the bushwackers just come with indents in the flare where you are supposed to drill, but none of mine lined up thats when I found out they really are only for the 96-99 applications but Oh well. the two rears came with self tapping screws make holes where the indents are in the flare and I never replaced the OEMs cause I never had any to begin with. thanks for the compliments
  18. ya thats what i used, but like I said I had to measure the holes for the 2 front flares. The trucks were pretty much identical from 96-04 so they fit like a charm on my 03. Here I just got some pics.
  19. I actually put a set of the bushwacker street style flare on my 03. THey really dont do much in my opinion just adds more appeal to the truck really. They do block some of the dirt from my tires but I still get mud stains on the side of my truck but oh well. And if you wanna get em and you have a 2000-2004 then DO NOT use the indents that are in the 2 front flares, I made that mistake and none of the holes lined up so I had to measure em.
  20. Ok cool, but what about that hub cap that needs to be removed to access the snap ring, should I replace or is it ok to reuse? thanks for ur help
  21. hey everyone, i gotta a question regarding the inner front wheel bearing. I wanna do new pads and rotors soon and also wanna repack the bearings. Now do I have to repack the inner bearing since its in the grease seal? is it hard to remove the bearing from the seal? also when I take the cap off that covers the snap ring which holds the drive flange should I replace the cap with a new one?? thanks
  22. Ya I would stick with those year pathys, unless you wanna drill more holes in the flare, that happened to me i just bought a set of bushwackers for my 03 and drilled out the indents that were marked on the flare and when i went to go put it on none of the holes lined up. but anyways stick with those years as for the roof rack Im not sure, do you already have a rack on ur truck?
  23. Hey everyone, Haven't been on the forums in a while, but gotta question I was hoping someone had an answer to. I am looking to take a set of leather seats out of a 98 pathfinder LE and put them in my 03 chilkoot edition. I am confident the seats will fit but I was wondering what was involved in getting the electric seats to work and the heaters. I found some wires under the seat which I assume are for the optional electric and heated seats, do I just plug them in, take the heated seat switches and pop in some fuses, our is there more involved? thanks
  24. Just throwing this out there. the current tires are just under 31", but my spare is the stock 29" tire. Incase of a flat is it bad to drive with a smaller tire just for a bit till i can get it fixed??? I figured it would be but just wanna see if anyonw else has done it. thanks
