The tanks are 80L, or about 21 Gallon.
I've run my truck out of fuel at least three times and i've never been able to squeeze more than about 72L into mine.
My fuel tank is 'clearanced' from alot of off roading, but even when i got the truck, 70L was the most it would take.
My last fuel receipt (from dead empty to full) was 71.05 liters. I got 550 Km's on that tank.
So, that's 342 miles driven
18.79 gallons of fuel purchased (1 liter = 0.264172051 gallons)
18.2 MPG
and i was getting 12.4 MPG before the rebuild.
At current gas prices, and the amount i drive, i'm saving something like $30 per week! -bounce-
-
Before the rebuild, i was getting 375 kms at the most. Now i'm back up to 550! on 31's and i drive on the highway everyday at around 130 kmh.

balljoints and cv boot.
not a big deal to diy.

fan clutch?
spin the fan by hand with the engine off. If it's got serious resistance, that's your problem.

And the Duty.....
Though, can't you get the parts in Canada cheaper than with shipping and duties from the US?
Not even close buddy.
MSRP for the lockright, for instance - $350 CND ($318 US) plus $20 duty (that's right, on a part you buy in Canada) plus $30 shipping (this is from a store remember) plus $28 GST (goods and services sales tax) = $428.
To buy it yourself and pay duty, shipping, VAT, and brokerage from the US is about the same.
We get f*cked living here when it comes to buying anything.
What do you pay for gas right now??
We pay $1.04 per liter * 3.8 liters per gallon = $3.95 per gallon, yes that's in CND dollars, but last i checked, i get paid in CND not USD.

Good point Dan... lowrider, I forgot that you were in Canada
Post revised with the addition of Canadian values
It's not the dollars, its the shipping.

Good to see you made it over Evan, how's the truck doing?

Indy:
Tires/Wheels $600-$1000
2” Body Lift $150
Rear Locker $400
Steering Kit $400
Front ARB $1,250
Suspension Kit $825
3.8:1 Crawler Gears $1,200
Total $4800-$5200
SAS:
Toyota Axles $1000
Rear Locker $400
Front ARB $1200
Toyota T Case $250
Crawler Gears $650
Nissan 2wd Tranny $500
Labor including suspension $3500
Steering and Driveshafts $1500
Tires $1000
Total $10,000
I am quite aware that you can do a D44 SAS swap for under $5000, but I’m not interested in going down that road.
And I’m not buying a Jeep (bought one new in 97 and snapped axles just thinking about going off road) or some POS full size, etc.

SAS'ed guys say they often wish they were still indy, especially with the terrain here (not alot of rocks)
Indy guys (including me) bitch and moan about clearance, traction and articulation.
Keep in mind i'm planning on driving it everyday still and going to Moab next may.
So, share your thoughts.
The choices are:
The save till the winter, maybe a second job for a while $10,000 SASification:
Toy diff's front and rear, either a flipped front with the nissan t case or (more likely) a divorced toy t case with a 2wd nissan tranny. Locked front and rear. Crawler gears. 33"s or 35"s.
The be broke till winter (but not have to save), $5000 Indyfication:
IFS. old man emu (or another high quality sus. lift). ARB air locker up front. L&P or Calmini steering. Lockright rear locker. Crawler gears. 2" BL. 33"s.

Oh yeah, and the rockguard is called "rockerguard" i bought it at can. tire, but you can get it at napa or any other autoparts store, it'll be branded accordingly. You can also use pickup truck bedliner.

:cool2: does that just spray over your paint????
If so...Looks like I'll have two-tone Paintjob in no time!!
You have to prep the paint if you want it to stick. Get a degrease/dewax product, even acetone will work, then scuff the paint, i used 120 grit sandpaper and then 80 grit in the drill. Mask it and spray it! that's it. Get good quality "rockguard" do not use "undercoating". Try not to get any on your hands, wear gloves!

Wow...I'm impressed that you could get all that done so fast. Your help must have actually known what they were doing!
Still not sure what I think about the rock protection stuff.....I'd say you should even it out along the body line, might not look so...I dunno, but it's just not sitting right with me. Glad to see the ol' girl back on the road though!
yeah, the help was great, my buddy johnny (hillclimber) helped me the whole way through, i owe him big time. I had other help for 2 days, and it was just me and johnny the rest of the time, plus i was gone for a week for work.
Yeah, i think i am going to do the rockguard from the body line down. either that or paint it to match the truck.

if i were you, find yourself some junkyard heads off a VG30. They don't have to be from a pathfinder/hb either. Quest vans, maximas, 300zx, mercury villager, etc. I somehow doubt the headgasket went personally, i've never heard of a non turbo vg30 doing that, my guess, the motor overheated warping a head, which has the exact same symptoms as a blown head gasket.
Pop the heads off and take them to an engine rebuilder and have them checked to see if they're warped. It'll save you alot of time hassle and cost than just throwing new head gaskets on and putting a possibly warped head back on just to do it again.
my .02.

I trimmed just below the seam on the rear, then took that line to the wheel wheels.

Where are you located?

How did i miss this thread?!!?!?!
Ok, first off to the person that believes everything he sees on the news (not to mention...), no weed is not worse for you than alcohol is. Booze is much worse. Are you the same kind of idiot that thinks that 4x4ing is castastrophic to the environment, 4x4ing on hard pack, pre established trails?? Don't believe everything you hear, just because you're too narrow minded to form your own opinion.
Try this: Smoke a joint tonight after work. Eat some chips and go to sleep. See how you feel the next day
Tomorrow: Drink a case of beer after work. Beat up your wife and go to sleep. See how you feel the next day.
Myself personally, i don't blaze, i used to only blaze to come down off of a 5-10 gram/day coke habit so i could go to sleep and do it all the next day, i think weed was the only thing that kept me alive.
MJ is from the earth, and is barely processed from plant to quarter sack. As opposed to tobacco products (i love to smoke, BTW) that are so full of god knows what, yet are LEGAL. So why the double standard?
The war on drugs, as has already been intimated in this post, is unwinnable. People like to get high. And something as simple and harmless as pot, well, who cares? If someone wants to go to a coffee house and get high (like in amsterdam) that's their right. It's preposterous that this hasn't been legalized and taxed yet. I pay $10/pack for cigarettes here in Canada becauase of all the taxation. I can quit if i choose to, but i don't, it's my right to choose to smoke, or not to. Just like i can choose to get drunk if i want to or puff some chiba. Oh wait, the chiba will get you thrown in jail in the 'free' US.
I'm done. discuss.
