  1. Non really... The pullys may be a little off for the belts, that is about all I can think of. Both of my 87's have a rod through the oil pan. They changed the design of the rods on the W series. If you are going through all the work of putting a new engine in, it just seems you would want the updated setup. The new "floating pin" rod design also gave the vg30i more power. So you would have even less power than you were used to before. I think somewhere I read it was something like 10-15hp less. Here is a pdf with the differences... Click here It shows how to tell if it is a "W" series block or not. Who knows you may have the updated unit
  2. I own two 87's.. they are both the pre "w" engine. Make sure to check when the car was made.
  3. The pre-April 87's have a different crank, pullys, less cooling ports in the heads, non floating wrist pins in the piston/rods, etc... they changed to the W series engines at that point.
  4. There are some really good write-ups out there. This site is one of the best I have seen!!! Nissannut The Waggy axle is the easiest way to go. The Early Bronco setup like mine takes parts from 3 different axles to make usable. The Waggys are 6 lug and the correct width right from the start.
  5. I think the Pathy did well on the "Truck of the Year" pole. Here are more pics of that day... Ramp Pics
  6. Mine bolted right on. Do you have an auto tranny? I think I remember something about how they wouldn't work with the auto. I think I remember the directions saying (in English) to assemble the headers/crossover before any bolts get tightened.
  7. These vg's just take it and take it .... When I go snow wheeling with the chevy/jeeps they all tend to overheat. The little vg just screams around like a pissed off sewing machine. I drove my pathy against the wind at 5000rpm from Kansas City to Denver. That was back in the auto tranny days! The whole way the temp gauge didn't move from it's normal position. Now that she has a 5 speed under her bonnet that doesn't happen anymore. As nice as it is to have only two pedals to worry about with the auto, the torque gained from going to the 5 speed is way worth the hassle of shifting on the trail....
  8. If a person rebuilds an engine, the pistons from a Quest are non-interference. I am in Colorado too.. our site is roninwheelers.com
  9. I think I will just leave mine stock....
  10. That video is taken at Carnage Lefthand Canyon....
  11. I think his is almost done....
  12. Here is what they will do..... Click Here
  13. I don't think a selectable locker is going to hurt much. Currie makes most of their housings out of AL. The Grand Cherokee had some problems with the AL-D44, however it was due to the manufacturing process of the housing. They installed the R&P before they pressed the tubes in. Most of those folks had good luck with the second set of gears.
  14. Ya they decided to quit making the Pathy "truck tuff" in 96.... I still like them all though. The new X and Pathy are so simular, they should have called it the X-van. Then imported the 2-door Patrol and called it the Pathfinder. Or just call it the patol... either way would be awesome.
  15. Face it, there are plenty of vehicles in my driveway to make a person feel "man like" while driving. It is nice to see my "better half" so happy with a rig.
  16. It is perfect for the family. I has it all.... It flat spanks my Pathy (when it was stock) in all areas.
  17. Look what she went and did... I about wet my pants!!! It is awesome.
  18. Lee is on eastern time now. He moved to Detroit.
