  1. I think I figured it out. I went back and started over. I went with a 5 pin relay so I wouldn’t have to put 2 wires together. My plan was to use pins 87 and 87a. I assumed that 87a would be powered up the same as 87. Apparently that’s not how it works. 87a has no power when the relay is activated. That is where I went wrong. Lesson learned.

  2. The ABS in these while pretty "dumb" just like the ECU, can sense these things. I had an issue where my brakes needed to be bled several times before the ABS light would stay off.. Strange indeed.

  3. Yep, and I remember when you bought that truck from Tony, it was mint! I don't dare drive mine in the salt here in Ontario. Even sitting in storage has caused some corrosion it wouldn't normally have. That stuff is liquid salt brine or calcium chloride. It is even worse than standard rock salt as it will creep into the crevices and really fskc things up. I wish they would stop using it as it is horrible for the water table like salt.

  4. People have swapped VG33s into turbo 300ZXs. Find their build threads, copy their homework. Should be easier for you given the engine's already in the truck, so you don't have to mess with the pan and whatnot. Not sure what options are available for tuning the R50 ECU or how best to get it running off a standalone. I don't think I've seen a turbo 3.3 R50. 2milehi turbo'd a VG30 WD21 (and sold it to snowboard419). There was a guy on here who turbo'd a 3.5 R50, but IIRC his transmission was not happy about it. There's also a guy on the Farcebook page (not sure if he's on here?) who's got some crazy super turbo system going on, on an Xterra if I remember right.

  5. Sorry to bump such an old thread, but I was clicking around the announcements and this was a shock to me. Jared was a great guy and helped out a young, dumb me around 2007-2008. I was in my first year at CWU and had a black 92 Pathfinder that I put all-terrains on so I thought I was a badass offroader. There were some great trails north of Ellensburg that I would frequent, and one particular outing I got stuck in super deep snow. I had to walk out about 5 miles with a friend (learned a lesson not to wheel with only one car!). I had no idea what to do. After some brainstorming I thought to look into local offroad forums, seeing if anyone around the area could help salvage it. I pleaded my case to some central Washington offroad forum, Jared responded and offered to help. Even though his pathfinder was way more built than mine, deep snow is nothing to mess with - luckily Jared had a backup plan. He picked me up and we started off towards the mountains - got to know him a bit, cool laid back guy. We got to my car and luckily no one else had discovered it/messed with it, it had been sitting in a deep gully off of the trail for a good 2 weeks. Jared got stuck as well trying to get closer and attempt a tow, but didn't panic at all. He had been talking to someone on CB, a friend of his. He was giving updates on location and it turns out this friend of his was the actual planned rescue the whole time, he was in a trailered single-seat Toyota on 40" swampers - a fully built crawler. When the Toyota arrived Jared and I stood back in wonder as this thing tooled in and out of the gully with ease just to show how capable it was, then lined up to winch us both out. Found some pictures on my old photobucket Me stuck: Jared stuck: Rescue: I'm sure they both thought I was a dumbass kid (which I was) but they were both super cool about it and helped me out immensely. My parents would have been pissed had they known. Afterwards I would wave any time I saw him driving the pathfinder around, unfortunately didn't keep in touch/hang out due to being different ages and cliques. I'll never forget the time he saved my ass though, taught me a love for offroading at the same time. RIP Jared!

  6. Yep, I think Ryan (GrimGreg) may also be from the old message list days. But don't quote me on that.
