Removing it from the tranny?

or

the 4 14 mill bolts that hold it to the flywheel? Access them through the Starter hole... you may need to slide out that little plate out of the way....

You got 4 14 mill bolts that connect it to the fly wheel... you will need a screw driver to lock the flywheel in place and most likely a breaker bar if they lock tited them when they put the new tranny in....

There are 2 backing plates in there.. one that goes all the way around and one that just covers the bottom half..

You got the starter out?

??? now im really confused...looking strait on to the motor i see the torque converter the flex plate then the back plate i dont see how you can seperate the TC from the motor other than "twisting and pulling"

what u r describing sounds like removing the flexplate from the TC after its off of the motor...

the motor is sitting in an engine crate and the tranny is hanging on the engine hoist awaiting its loading on sat morning...

i just need to get the TC off of the motor b/c i dont need it and i was going to give it to cdhicks when he gets the tranny and i've never dealt with any automatics so this is foreign grounds

Its not connected to the crank biggrin.gif its connected to the flywheel with 4 14mm bolts bounce.gif

well ya see the flywheel is still connected to the crank so i was prying on both of them at the same time...sorry i took a shower and got in the bed...but i'll def attempt it when i get home from work...then i'll have to check to make sure i didnt screw nething up...that would suck

You have it easy... the engine and tranny are out of the Pathy....

If you want to have some fun try seperating the engine from the tranny with it in the pathy...

CD Im not sure on this, dont have the book handy: I believe there is a gasket where the Converter mates up with the Tranny... Make sure you replace that before sticking this tranny in your rig.

got it in 10 mins...5 mins of figuring out how i was going to tilt the motor on the crate and use the air gun to bust them loose and then 5 mins to bust them loose...

i turned the motor a couple times by hand and it doesnt seem to have any binds so maybe i didnt screw nething up

You can also use about 2' of extensions an run it out over the Center Link for some breaker bar room....

Careful those extensions bite... Gave myself a black eye when one in the middle popped out and came down and went bang....

i hit mine with the air gun sitting at 120 psi 3 of the 4 were reall easy to come out the last 1 the gun had to impact on it about a dozen times or so before it came out...

and i pulled the starter bracket off of the block 2 14mm bolts that gave me more room

Umm.. There should be 3 bolts holding that on.. 2 to the block and 1 from front to rear going back into the bell housing (you have that out) thats a bitch to put back in with the motor in. take off right front wheel and access through the wheel well...
