A few questions

1. Is there a trick to lining up the converter to the flywheel holes?

 

2. What would be the best place to put my remote oil filter?

 

3. Any tips on getting the starter in?

 

4. Is the D21 xcase shifter a direct bolt on?

#1 Get a manual tranny.

 

#2 Most people put it on the side of the engine bay behind the battery. Slick has some good photos as well as others.

 

#3 The starter goes in from the front. Above the centerlink/tierod or whatever, then sraight back to it's mount. You may have to remove some wiring clips to get enough room and there are some times you have to turn the starter for clearance. I cant remember the exact recipe, but calm and thinking will get it in 10X faster then pissed and pushing.

 

#4 Bolts ?? Shifter ? Tranny ? Automagic ? Transfer case ? No se.

Before setting the engine, spin the converter so that 1 of the 4 holes is accessable through the starter opening. Then when the motor is set you can turn the crank unil one of the flywheel holes line up...

 

Any tips on getting the starter in?

 

Turn the starter so the solinoid is straight up it will slide in with a couple of nudges... Search is also a good place to look...

Put the oil filter under the fender in the front next to the body mount.

 

Take as many looks through the fenderwell as you can, also. The starter's right there.

 

For a t-case shifter it's bolt-on. Dunno about the trans shifter.

My cooler lines seem to be in the way.

I am replacing the tranny so the block is already there. I have the flywheel hole where I want it but I can't see the converter holes.

for the brake line NAPA might be able to make 1? i know i've seen them make extended hydro lines for things like AC and power steering but i donno if they do brake lines or not...

 

or where the T bolts in have them make a hard line that extends it however far u need it and then thread the T back in with the original rubber lines...

 

whats wrong with the stainless? after u get a lift on it they'll be purty

With the engine in its very difficult to move the converter.... u have to move the flywheel to match up the hole on the converter....

Also I hera people talking about extended rear arms.

What arms do they speak of?
