Rear Hatch Shock Mount Problem

Folks, checked my rear hatch pins and the problem one isn't cross threaded. For whatever reason it's moving around in the hatch but is tight enough where it stays put (but not solid) if that makes any sense!

Here's my question, I've got new pins with my new shock. Does anyone think that JB weld will be strong enough to hold it put? The old pin actually bent upward enough to allow the old shock to slip off when the gate was closed.

Or should I use some other means to angle the pin a bit back? Perhaps half a washer or something like that?

The parts guy at Nissan suggested I just weld the damn thing! LOL!

I'll probably do both. Use something to give the pin a bit of an angle to straighten things up and JB Weld it.

Should I scrap things down to bare metal before applying the JB Weld?

Here's my update.

I used half a washer and JB weld to level things off. Screwed the new pin in and SO FAR things are holding up. I know there's a huge amount of pressure exerted on that small pin by the hatch shock so I'm still a little skeptical that's it's going to last in the long term but damn, it sure is nice not having to use my mop handle to hold things up!

Ha! I've been using a wire brush since the purchase. Close to 2 yrs now. I must be the cheapest guy on the board!

I would use a real weld and re-tap the hole.
