Guest waterfowlrus
How do you get the ecu codes? I the box under the passenger side seat. What is it? A diagnostic computer? and if so how do you use it? My pathy Rpm Gauge has been jumping lately. Like this 2500 say cruising down the road then it will jump to 3000 then immediately back to 2500, 3000 then immediately back to 2500. Any possible reason why this is occurring will be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Clint
KILLVOX
Hey Clint, There is a thread or two about checking the ECU codes. Try the search button and i will try to find it also. But real quick i wanted to mention, I have a 95 and haveing this problem also. I have been doing alittle experiment. About 2 months ago this happend to me and some one was talking about cleaning the MAF sensor. That didnt work. But! i jiggled the wires leading into the sensor and the idle went up and down then back to normal and the problem went away. So a month later the problem came back and i jiggled the wires again. The same thing happend again. Idle went up then down and back to normal and the problem went away. its been about a month and a half now. Just waiting to see if it happens again to prove my case. Now if this is the case, i guess its some thing in the connection. So with the truck running try it out and let us know what happens. Rick
k9sar
my 95 did the same and it was a bad connection in the MAF connector. Stupid design has the wire going straight up and mine was actually hitting the hood. I could make the engine run like crap by pushing on the hood whioch would flex the wire. I removed the connector from the MAF and rebuilt it at a 90 degree angle and good solid connections. Never a problem since.

John Boy
Yep my 95 does it once in a while, once i had to slam on the brakes really hard and the RPM's shoot up to 2000 while idling I had to turn the truck off for it to find it's proper idle again. But good to know the MAP connection is the culprit

88pathoffroad
On a VG30E, right on top of the air cleaner box. Only thing around there with wires going to it. Look in the Garage under How-To's for the ECU error code info...
