ok i tried to search for this topic and did not find what i wanted. Anyway when i turn on the ac in my 97 pathy the compressor kicks on and you can hear the bearings in it whining i stuck a stethiscope (spelling?) to it and it is definetely the bearings is there a way to replace these without replacing the whole compressor??? I always thought i would have to replace the whole thing. It has lasted about a year and a half with the whining I figure i am not going to replace it until it goes out completely. I know comoressors are expensive and i want to explore all my options before i have to buy a new one. P... :help:

 Thanks i will check that out. I believe it is inner bearings but not totally sure. When i stuck a stethiscope on it i put it on the core or whole housing of the compressor so maybe i will have to check on it again.
