Maz
I was just wondering how big of a job is it to change the water pump on my 91 pathy? Do I have to get into the timing belt and stuff? THanks Jamie
RedPath88
Yes, they are basically the same job... while in there you might as well put a new timing belt on... unless you just changed it.
unccpathfinder
u'd be just plain crazy to not do them at the same time....its not a huge job if u have the ability and tools (timing light, harmonic balancer puller)
Maz
Yeah I am a little pressed for time that's all. If I can just pull off the pump without changing or touching the tbelt that would be great. But if not I may be out of luck Thanks Jamie :furious:
RedPath88
Even if you can get it off with the timing belt on you risk getting coolant on the belt. Coolant can breakdown the belt which would later lead to the belt breaking.. and if you are not sure what that means.. well lets just say that you will likely be in for a whole new engine or serious rebuild
Slick
change the H2o pump, t-belt and t'stat while you've got it apart. it won't take much longer to do it... set aside 4 hrs tops and you'll be good to go.
