VW_Factor Posted April 22, 2006 Share Posted April 22, 2006 1993. I think just the alarm system itself is busted at this point. Ive taken the seat out to get a better look, etc.. For the life of me, Im trying to program this new fob, followed all the instructions, its still a no go. Tried finding a master reset or something. No go. The fob will not unlock or lock doors, and the alarm light is in a constant fast flash condition. Any hints? Ive already checked the under hood plunger. Its a grounding type switch. amullerworth Posted May 20, 2006 Share Posted May 20, 2006 (edited) You could have some moisture that got into the unit. My wife drove too fast thru some deep water that came thru the hole in floorboard where the pedal is. I took it apart and found moisture in it, so I used a hairdryer to dry it out and put it back together and siliconed the holes and it works just fine. VW_Factor Posted May 20, 2006 Author Share Posted May 20, 2006 Sorry for the time without updates.. The fob is good. Picked it up brand new at the dealer here. It wasnt very expensive. This is when I tried to get this thing programmed. Again, it goes through the correct chirps, etc. but when taken from the program mode, it will not respond to the keyfob. So, drivers seat came out, trimmed a little carpet, and checked the alarm box and wiring under the seat. It all looks great. Antenna, grounding wire, connections are great. The way it sits now, the alarm light is in fast flash mode at all times. Truck running, not running, parked, and locked. It just fast flashes all the time. The switch next to the light has no effect. Something I have noticed that may be an issue (maybe someone here knows) is that the electronic locking system works on the passenger side, but not the drivers door. For those who may not be aware of what it is.. When I unlock the passenger door with the key, turn it once, it unlocks just that door, turn twice, and it unlocks ALL the doors. The system on the drivers door doesnt work. Should I look at this, to see if there is an issue? Could this effect the operation of the alarm system? I as well checked the grounding switch, that "checks" to see if the hood is up. It wasnt operating properly. I tried with the "sensor wire" grounded, and ungrounded. It had no effect either way. Still operated the same. Someone has sent me a PM, about the alarm box. Which I may end up purchacing. What I dont know is, if there is something wrong on the trucks end, or if there is something wrong with the alarm end. I wish I could tell you, but Im normally one to work on older cars (VWs in particular) and if something like an alarm gets fitted, I do it myself so I know exactly where everything is, and how it operates. This has me confused. Sometimes with the Nissans, Toys, etc, I just dont understand what they were thinking when they engineered them. Otherwise. Carry on. dgr8cycler Posted June 23, 2006 Share Posted June 23, 2006 Hi all, I know that there are several other alarm posts, but this one was the most recent so I am asking on it. As someone else, sorry i forgot who, had part of the same problem but there never was a reply to that part specifically. Lemme cut to the chase, I was kinda jealous that my alarm system would not even blink, and I read all the other posts about making sure the wires were connected. The rocker switch was indeed still wired up. Going under the seat theres was 3 wires not attached to anything. The first looked like a computer ATX connector and I plugged that back into the box. Once that was plugged in the alarm rocker started chirping and blinking. even in the off position. I am assuming that was the alarm going off. Now since that is wired up every minute on and off the thing will start chirping and blinking and the outside lights will flash on the corners. I think this is the alarm going off, however the horn part isnt working. I am not sure if the other two connectors are supposed to be plugged in anywhere. One is blue the other is white and symetrical with wiring colors similar to the radio wiring. Perhaps one of these is the horn hook up? Also like i said before even with the rocker off and the car all locked up every other minute the thing will chirp and flash the lights. Please help me out with the wiring and a possible diagnosis. I am going to unplug the ATX like connector for now so my battery doesnt die. I will try to get pics of the horn, as well as the "extra" wires. Ps the alarm horn broke off from the mount from the PO and just sits under the hood on whatever is below it, it is still wired up under the hood, but i dont know if the hanging could have effected it. 88pathoffroad Posted June 25, 2006 Share Posted June 25, 2006 The stock alarm uses the stock horn. If it has an aftermarket alarm siren on it, it probably wasn't hooked up to the stock alarm. chili Posted June 27, 2006 Share Posted June 27, 2006 just got thru dealing with this exact issue myself. the answer is... if your alarm is 'stuck' in the rapid flash mode, pull off the positive terminal of the battery. when you hook it back up all should be good. i had to repeat several times before it reset, but finally it did. proceeded to program my fob, and all was well. hope that helps! chili Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Besides getting the alarm to chill, I still havent been able to get the horn to sound when the alarm goes off. If the stock horn is the alarm horn as well, i am perplexed as to why the regular horn (pushing the steering wheel in to honk) works but the alarm doesnt trigger it. I have some pictures of the horn as well as the alarm. If anyone happens to take a look and notices something fishy please tell me. The horn is unattached from its mount but its still secured and all wired up. dgr8cycler Posted July 1, 2006 Share Posted July 1, 2006 Status update, I got the remote to program finally, and the alarm to stop being glitchy; however the remote is only arming and disarming the alarm. I cant get it to unlock and lock the doors. Any one else had this problem? Also the horn still isnt going off. Sorry about the bad links up top. Is that my alarm still works because I accidently set it off and it was loud, however I need a new Siren. because i am now informed that the stock horn goes off as well as the siren. since my siren dangles that must be why its broken. Easy to replace and rewire. So here is the main and hopefully final question. As I said above the key fob is only arming and disarming the alarm when the switch is on, when the switch is off it turns on and off the dome light. Meaning it is working because the light goes on and off for entry exit upon locking and unlocking. However the door's will still not lock and unlock even tho they should be. does anyone know if there is a fuse or relay that I must check because it seems like that its as simple as a relay for the doors from the alarm system isnt triggering. If anyone knows how to solve this problem or has had a similar problem Please help me as I, to be honest am lazy, and would love to have my keyless entry working. k9sar Posted July 4, 2006 Share Posted July 4, 2006 sorry... just saw this. Look for the wiring diagram and you should see if there is a common relay or fuse. It wouldn't be any of teh door actuators cause they are independent. The other thing I would check is to pull the connector off the alarm control module and look for any broken or bent pins. There could be one that carries teh signal to the door controller or whatever teh mechanim is and it's not making connection. I'll look at my wiring diags when I get a chance. I honestly have no idea what the box is for, but its likely not for the alarm system. Its bolted in next to the alarm module. As a test, I left the box unplugged, and the truck started and ran normally. Otherwise.. Seeing these pictures posted here, my alarm module has a different plugin. Looks the same otherwise. (didnt have a nissan sticker tho). Mine has a PCB blade that a connector pushes onto. Not the ATX style connector. Reading the idea about undoing the + term on the battery, I thought.. Hmmm.. I'll give that a shot. However, I just resorted to undoing the ground, as that was easier. I couldnt get the alarm light to come out of the fast flash condition, but about the 5th time undoing and redoing the ground cable, the alarm did light up and scream at me. I guess that means it does work. Sorta.. I still cannot get any response from the alarm after programming the fob. I still cannot get the alarm to get out of the perma fast flash condition. Im about ready to take this truck down to best buy and have them put a Viper in it. This alarm setup in this truck is about the most retarded alarm I have ever worked with. Now, when I hold down the button on the module to get to programming mode, the siren makes star wars like beeps and noises.. Its getting weirder by the minute.. I found that you dont have to wait for silence with the key fob. Just turn on and off the car hold down the button and as soon as you here the beep, beep beep... while still holding down the button hold down the key fob unlock. then the beep just changes to to a long beeeeep let go of both and turn on and off the car again. The fob should be programmed now. The problem I am having still is the doors wont unlock, only the alarm turns on and off and the dome light lights up and goes off. I get no response from the fob nor the truck. If I posted pictures, or a short video of what is going on, would that help you guys help me with this? I mean, this morning, I did at one point (doing the battery cable thing) get the alarm to scream at me, which tells me that it is functioning at least partly. Im not really that concerned with the alarm aspect of it, as much as I am getting the keyless entry to work. I would like that to be functional for the wife. Notice as well the longer flat "blade" style connector for the module. This is a better view of the connector. Here is the fuse holder thing. I have no idea what this box is for, but I have the extra that was sent for troubleshooting purposes. This is the drivers cargo area.. This is where the doorlock timer thing is (which the dealer told me could cause this issue). However, it operates normally in all conditions (the door locks, etc). This is the fob that my wife and I purchaced from Nissan some time ago. Its brand new (basically, other than me trying to get the alarm working). The switch and light is also pictured here. VW_Factor Posted July 8, 2006 Author Share Posted July 8, 2006 I got a single response.. :o Ok. Doing the battery cable trick, once the truck locked its doors on the reattachment of the cable. Ooohhh.. I shut the door I had open. I watched the light (alarm switch in the off position) the light stayed off. I used the fob and it unlocked the doors with a small chirp of the horn. YAY!!! Except.. The light started back in its fast flash state, and that was the end of that. Sooooo.. What things can cause this system to be stuck in a fast flash state.. Where can I look?
