  1. Awesome write up!!! Definitely will come in handy. Thanks!
  2. My grandfather had a 1988 olds custom cruiser. That car he drove it hard, towed his boat with it and never checked the oil or performed any maintence unless something wasnt working right and he had to take it in. He didnt care about anything other then that it drove and towed his boat. He drove the car into the ground, literally when it was on its second radiator and until the transmission had nice plumes of black smoke coming from it and the car couldn’t move anymore. In the 17 years he owned it he never took the time to kick off clinging clumps of rock salted snow, hell I think he only washed the car like 4 times the entire time he owned it. And at the time of death the cars frame only had light surface rust, nothing as detrimental as on a lot of these pathys. Luckily my pathy doesnt have any frame rot, But i think the average joe that owns a car wont wash the undercarriage every 2 weeks or so. For the average person, average maintenence is the occational car wash, checking the oil occasionally in between changes, and taking the car to the mechanic for things to be fixed, usually only if its blatantly wrong or the check engine light is on. A lot wouldn’t even think to regularly look under the car or wash the undercarriage. From the number of pathfinders ive seen with severe frame rot on the internet, and selling on ebay. I'd have to say that the frames of the pathy's do deteriorate quicker then most of other cars. This is happening on cars in places with mild winters like where I live in MD. With this strong correlation id have to say it seems the metal is not up to a grade among other car frames. Finally, lucky for us on the forum all this information is known and readily available. For those that already have frame rot, I’m sorry. For those who don’t we know what we have to do, either get rid of the car, or keep the car knowing that it is higher maintenance but at least you know what to do from what everyone else mentioned to prevent your car from getting past that point.
  3. Thats really weird how in only a course of a year cuz VW's is a 94 and mines a 95 that the alarm systems are so different. Does anyone else have a 95 that looks like mine and not VW's?
  4. to get my rapid flash from going away I just kept unplugging the main alarm module and letting it sit. Also my switch would not turn off the alarm even when set to off so i sprayed some contact cleaner in there and it works a lill better now. I found that you dont have to wait for silence with the key fob. Just turn on and off the car hold down the button and as soon as you here the beep, beep beep... while still holding down the button hold down the key fob unlock. then the beep just changes to to a long beeeeep let go of both and turn on and off the car again. The fob should be programmed now. The problem I am having still is the doors wont unlock, only the alarm turns on and off and the dome light lights up and goes off.
  5. Post if it works or not, and any extra steps u had to take. I am eager to here of the reslults.
  6. yea I am having the same problem with the remote not unlocking the doors. I as well have no corrosion under the kick panel, I do have 3 relays, it kinda looks like its missing one but theres only one contact for it. Are we supposed to have 4? But yea as captain said above which of the relays in the back is it? There are 4 grouped together up there among other wires and connectors.
  7. Update: I drove it for quite some time on E, but the light never came on. Dad got worried so told me to fill it up. Upon fill up I put in 17.6 gallons, which makes me think my tank is 18 cuz I was on E for a while, then again could be 21. Either way I was at 338.6 Miles when I got to the gas station. Factor that in with the 17.6 gallons replaced and I got 19.2 mpg. Most of that was highway driving, but im still pretty impressed by my truck.
  8. Much appreciated , I also got a 95, and its an XE
  9. So what I have learned from this forum as well as another ive found online, and sorting things out. Is that my alarm still works because I accidently set it off and it was loud, however I need a new Siren. because i am now informed that the stock horn goes off as well as the siren. since my siren dangles that must be why its broken. Easy to replace and rewire. So here is the main and hopefully final question. As I said above the key fob is only arming and disarming the alarm when the switch is on, when the switch is off it turns on and off the dome light. Meaning it is working because the light goes on and off for entry exit upon locking and unlocking. However the door's will still not lock and unlock even tho they should be. does anyone know if there is a fuse or relay that I must check because it seems like that its as simple as a relay for the doors from the alarm system isnt triggering. If anyone knows how to solve this problem or has had a similar problem Please help me as I, to be honest am lazy, and would love to have my keyless entry working. THanks all
  10. After reading this forum, I decided to see how far I could go until the fuel light comes on. So far im at 316 miles, and on E. once the light comes on, then ill fill her up all the way to see my gas mileage.
  11. Status update, I got the remote to program finally, and the alarm to stop being glitchy; however the remote is only arming and disarming the alarm. I cant get it to unlock and lock the doors. Any one else had this problem? Also the horn still isnt going off. Sorry about the bad links up top. Here is the album with pics of the horn and alarm box for aiding in help. http://pg.photos.yahoo.com/ph/skinnyj4life...4life/my_photos
  12. Hey all, thanks for the replys. I am going to try chili's method of unplugging the positive terminal, hopefully that should work for me. Besides getting the alarm to chill, I still havent been able to get the horn to sound when the alarm goes off. If the stock horn is the alarm horn as well, i am perplexed as to why the regular horn (pushing the steering wheel in to honk) works but the alarm doesnt trigger it. I have some pictures of the horn as well as the alarm. If anyone happens to take a look and notices something fishy please tell me. The horn is unattached from its mount but its still secured and all wired up. Sorry, new to the html coding, not sure if i linked them right <img src="http://f7.yahoofs.com/users/445d9c68m797de5ce/a466re2/__sr_/abe8re2.jpg?phIAZpEB2CQ6IhNL"> <img src="http://f7.yahoofs.com/users/445d9c68m797de5ce/a466re2/__sr_/1e19re2.jpg?phIAZpEBbn9XQa0D"> <img src="http://f7.yahoofs.com/users/445d9c68m797de5ce/a466re2/__sr_/4b41re2.jpg?phIAZpEBDZoJ.nv2"> <img src="http://f7.yahoofs.com/users/445d9c68m797de5ce/a466re2/__sr_/b7c8re2.jpg?phIAZpEBFPTenN6a"> <img src="http://f7.yahoofs.com/users/445d9c68m797de5ce/a466re2/__sr_/9dc4re2.jpg?phIAZpEB1U24HtVq"> <img src="http://f7.yahoofs.com/users/445d9c68m797de5ce/a466re2/__sr_/8ae3re2.jpg?phIAZpEBTedKMhm6"> <img src="http://f7.yahoofs.com/users/445d9c68m797de5ce/a466re2/__sr_/9ec2re2.jpg?phIAZpEBYMJ.UtSA">
