what is wrong with my truck, (running issues)

Hi everyone,

I am the original owner of my 1995 SE-V6 5 spd with 163,000 miles. The issues started over the summer after the truck was not used for about a week. When I went to start it started and ran but it was stumbling and back fireing and it barely made it up my driveway and the check engine light was one. After a few minutes it cleared up, the light went out and all was well. On the same day it did the exact same thing later in the day, and after that it did not do it at all.

So fast forward to now and the light still has not returned, but I think my MPG has dropped off and SOMETIMES when I start it in the mornings or after not running for a few hours for about 5-10 seconds when it first starts it will idle very poorly and the exhaust will smell horrible, but again it is only for a few seconds.

I took it into the shop and he checked the fuel press and said it was fine. The only thing that he could find was a corroaded wire leading to the mass airflow sensor (I think that is what he said?) We orig figured that it was an O2 sensor, but he said that did not show up on the computer. The truck has been tuned-up'ed always using OEM parts, and I have always changed the oil every 3,000 miles using Mobil-1. Any ideas as to what is wrong. Other than the above issues she runs perfect!

Thank you,

Zack

Check your vac hoses, make sure yer MAF is clean and the grounding is good on the MAF cables (the corroded wire will cause your truck to run like garbage) Maybe cats are clogged. You said that you got full tuneup? So plugs, wires, rotor+cap should be good.. no?
