engine swap

i have a 88 se with a vg30i and i need a new or rebuilt one. ive been looking for one locally and cant find any or on the internet. does anyone know where i can find one??????? HELP!!!!

Any VG30 engine from 87-95 will fit if you swap out the FI components. Maxima and 300ZX engines from the late 80's will also fit just fine, but beware of different crankshaft snout(front end) differences. Call the local junkyard. Any VG30i or VG30E will do. A VG30DE will not fit.

Kind of a silly question but a switch to an E engine would involve a new ecu, but would it also involve replacing all of the associated wiring from the ecu to the engine as well? Or could most of the wiring be reused?

There are different components, so I would think so.

Yes, you have to change the wiring harnes as well as the ecu.

The wire harness has tones of wires in it.. its about the size of a 50Cent picce

Does anyone know anywhere i can get a vg30i for relatively cheap.( im still in school and have a small budget) with low miles??? Ive been looking for a while and cant find anything jsut vg30E's

Well since we don't know where you live that will make it more difficult to help.

 

i checked in Washington and there are about 10 available statring from 650 bucks and down.

Don't forget to check craigs list (www.craigslist.com). Pathy's with dead trannys or trashed bodies show up on there from time to time, as well as engines too.

I have a complete wiring harness from the engine and computer from a 91 vg30e if you are interested. originally I was going to do the swap of the entire intake manifolds, throttle body etc, have all the parts, just dont think i will ever have the time. If you want it let me know.
