I've been looking for lots of nice do-dads to add to the black beauty and some wheels are high on my list since I'd like to get some good tires eventually. I searched for info on here and found that my chrome steels maybe aren't the best bet. I've seen lots of trucks and jeeps with what look like plain black steel wheels. Is that what lots of folks use? Where are good places to find them? Boneyards maybe?

Lots of places sell a cheap black steel wheel. You can find them for less than $50 a piece at many tire/wheel stores. Easily replaced if damaged. Chrome is fine, but a bit of a pain sometimes. I've always loved black wheels on a black truck. Look at Mudfinders ride, he's got that setup and it looks good.

I am guessing you're talking about the 'rockcrawler' type wheels. Pretty much any off road shop, tire/wheel retailer, online parts retailer, etc... will have them.

 

Those wheels are popular because they're cheap, strong and come in every imaginable size on earth. Plus the blue and red stripe on the rim of the wheel is just too kool.

The Rock Crawler wheels are stripeless, the ARE version has those neeto racing stripes around the bead area.

Either way, the striping is sexy.
