Tachometer 1995 xe-v6

just got a 95 pathfinder , standard 5 speed and the tachometer is jumping and not registering ,

any suggestions to fix and or cause of the problem ?

Take the instrument cluster out, and clean/tighten the brass screws on the back, they are the ground points.

Don't be surprised if it doesn't work. Pretty normal for these. My tach doesn't work. If you are worried about shift points, I use the 15, 30, 50mph when shifting. The max torque output in terms of rpm's is 3800k if I remember correctly.

3800 k rpm wow your pathfinder must be a jet engine conversion! hahaha

 

x2 on checking the dash for loose fittings. The speedometer is a strictly mechanical unit, but the reminder of the components in the dash are electronic and are on an ancient circuit board, definitely worth checking. Not too bad of a job on my '92, but IDK how the '95 dash comes apart. I had to go in there to replace the voltage regulator that powers the gas and temp meters

On a 95 the speedometer is actually electronic. Only 93 and older had the cable.

94 and 95 both electronic speedos, also both of my 88s are electronic, 1 has a 94 dash and complete wiring, the other has a 95
