Will a 2001 automatic transmission fit a 98?

Just checking before I purchase a transmission. I have a 98 pathfinder 3.1 and I can get a transmission from a 2001 pathfinder , will it bolt up and work?

Do you mean a 3.3? And are they the same transmission code? If so it should be a bolt on and plug in process

No it says 3.1 on the rig and where's the transmission code?

Just to avoid confusion, please post a picture of your motor.

Hard to mix it up that way, but I'm betting on the VG30 for a 1995 and a VG33 for a 1998...

 

2001 will probably have the VQ35 and will not bolt up. VG series trannies are interchangable though.

I thought you had a 1995. The gold one in your pics? That isn't a 98.

Yeah I do have the 95 still, just acquired a 98 through a job I did and the tranny dipstick smelled burnt, no 2nd gear or OD and you gotta let off the gas to get her from 1st to 3rd, keep in mind this is an automatic lol
