NovaPath
Noticed the other day that when the doors are closed and the heat is on these things are pumping out air, but as soon as you open the door they stop. I imagine it is some sort of vent system, just wondering what it's actual purpose is as i've never had another vehicle that did this... Thanks,
nunya
You have, they just were not obviously in the open on everything you've owned (many times they are 'hidden' and part of cosmetics or sometimes under trim/between cab/bed of pickups). They are something to do with ventilation/pressure/air flow etc. put all the windows up and put your hand over one and have someone slam a door, you'll feel a puff of air from it assuming your truck seals decent enough still
kdj
It's like the HVAC in your house...it can't pump out hot air without sucking in cold air some where. Hot air register and cold air returns. If your Pathfinder is working right it should pump out hot air and suck up cold mud from somewhere else.
XPLORx4
As others have said, if you have the climate control setting to not recirculate, fresh air is drawn into the cabin from the hood cowl (the plastic vent under the windshield wipers). To avoid the cabin from being excessively positively pressurized, stale air in the cabin is exhausted from the vents behind the side rear windows.
