Djfob
Mounted 15" rims with 31 Bfg ta ko. The rims just clear the larger brake calipers. My question is how close is too close. I might have 1.5-2mm of clearance between outer edge of caliper and inner diameter of rim.Do brake calipers expand much with heat?
ferrariowner123
2mm should be enough, according to DVW it's when you put new pads that it becomes an issue. -Kyle
CDN_S4
you can always add a 5mm spacer. I've run spacers on all my cars so far and never had any issues. Especially not when it's only 5mm. Maybe 20+mm will more likely cause issues due to increased stress on components, but 5 and below should be no issue.
kdj
I tried my 15" spare on my '03 with new brakes.and they turn easily by hand but do touch. They might clear if the rim wasn't packed with mud and rust but I plan on grinding a little of the calipers before installing the tires for the winter. I'd rather grind them down a bit than add spacers.
Djfob
Measured with a feeler gauge, at it's closest point there's 1mm of clearance. Tight but so far it drives without touching. These are 15s off a 96 Tacoma for future reference. Edited August 18, 2014 by Djfob
