txpath4x4
Ok so I installed an electric fan that was supposedly rated for the Pathy, yeah the Texas heat claimed another victory. So back to mechanical it is( with a new fan clutch)
Kingman
Villager/Quest or 3.8L Taurus fans work very well. I have the Nissan fan and sitting in traffic in 100* weather low keeps it plenty cool. Towing a trailer up hills in 90*+ isn't an issue either.
vagabond
On my 88 I'm running the earlier Maxima fans with the metal frame, also the the temp sensors that fit in the bottom of the max rad. I placed the temp sensor in the metal tube in the upper rad hose it turns on the low speed fan at 190 degrees the high speed fan I have hooked to a switch on the dash. The 94 I did the same way and have had no problems with either one. The fan shroud fits the pathy rad almost perfect, I think I have some pics of the installation on here somewhere.
theexbrit
I originally had 2x12" fans in an aluminum shroud that only covered 2/3rds of the rad & I always had over heating problems on long, slow hills. I have since fitted a Taurus 2 speed fan, a Dakota Digital controller & an OEM shroud, nary a heat problem now!!
