My 93 pathfinder will start up and run fine but once its starts to warm up it will die while driving and will not start until it cools off a little. It is not overheating, I just got a new fuel pump coolant flush and new thermometer. My garage cant figure it out, has anyone esle had this problem?

Hmm ... stab in the dark, I'd probably suspect the coil going out when it gets warm/hot. It just sounds electrical to me if it runs fine and heat causes sudden complete deadness. I might also give a leery look at the fuel pump relay.

First, check the ECU for stored fault codes (write up in the Garage/How To section).

Second, this sounds just like when I disturbed the wiring to the temperature sensor on a buddies truck. Ran perfectly until it warmed up (open loop mode) then died instantly and refused to start (closed loop). Check the connector, check the output of the sensor (info is in the FSM, EC section) and try wiggling the wires/connector.

This sounds to me like probable ignition module. Very common symptom of ign module is to run 20 mins or so then die won't restart for 45 min to hour. Another common symptom is for it to run fine as long as you are maintaining rpms (on hwy or interstate) when rpms come down (red light or exit ramp) stalls out. If you have multi meter test coil first(easy to check before buying any parts) but ign module is my first suspicion.

I'm new to Pathy, so am assuming they actually HAVE ign module. Every other vehicle from late 80's early 90's I've worked on had one on bottom of distributor so i feel confident VG30i is no exception.

Good luck

Mine's done this. Starts up fine, idles fine, but then it gets warm and dies at stoplights.

Both times I've unplugged the MAF and TPS, plugged them back in, and wiggled the coolant temp sensor wiring (because I didn't want to burn my hand trying to figure out the plug), and it's gone back to normal. Sooner or later I should figure out what the actual problem is... gotta be one of those.

Well this got me thinking, so I checked on the plug for my coolant temp sensor. It was corroded inside, which probably means it's what was giving me trouble.

It's one of the sensors on the coolant neck, the one closer to the engine. I pulled a couple spark plug wires so I could get my hand in there to pull the clip off. Hopefully your issue's as simple as this!
