Factory KYB struts?

So at the local junkyard today where there is 3 rows of about 10-15 pathys a row and I notices a 1998 r50 had front struts that where black and said "Nissan" then under that kyb Japan.. Is this the same KYB???? did I just learn something new lol?

Wouldn't surprise me. A lot of manufactures use outside companies to manufacture specialized productions like shocks and electrical components.

 

I think there was a thread not too long ago trying to get everyone to post what company made what part in an effort to find parts that were the same OEM quality without the OEM prices.

KYB makes stock shocks for lots of cars, I think my Miata had them, they're pretty high quality stuff.

Mine had OEM <Nissan> KYB struts and shocks. Had some long part number that couldnt be referenced though.

I believe KYB made the adjustable shocks for Monteros, may be the same in pathfinders.

i'd be curious of that, i would like to one day, re install my adjustable suspension setup and see how well (if at all) it works.

i thnk kyb are standard among nissan models. specially gr2's

Would be interesting, but honestly I'd rather spend the dollars on some remote res bilsteins.
