Another Aussie!

Great to see a few Aussies in the bunch.

Ive just purchased a '95 V6 WD21 Man. that needs some cosmetic love but otherwise as straight as an arrow, runs well and is surprisingly way too much fun to drive. Im always up for a bit of a project, so I'll update my profile as I go and hopefully get to share some ideas with you all.

I currently live in North Western Australia in a mining port called Port Hedland. Most of Australia exported iron ore leaves from here. I work for one of the companies that mines the ore and I work to maintain the railway from the mine to the port. Its a unique and remote place that is very hot, humid and dusty with a treachorous monsoonal season that can blow your house down.

I live here with my teacher wife and little daughter and we recently decided to find a cheap cow chaser that could get us out of town and we didn't have to be too precious about when off road. So along came the Pathfinder which I bought on the strength of the 2lt '93 D21that Ive had for years. It seems so far that it was a good choice.

Looking forward to meeting you.

Grant

Hi mate,

Welcome.

Excellent part of the world you live in.

I bought my Pathy with the same idea. Something I get out with, without worrying about minor damage.

Welcome to NPORA Grant, and thanks for the introduction!

I'd say you made a good choice as long as it is mechanically sound. These little rigs do surprisingly good with just a set of tires and some gas. They obviously have a following as well, as you can tell by the site... :D

Thanks for the welcome all. There are certainly many places to explore here and I will be putting her to the test. Im glad to see the huge international following also and yes some new "tires"(sic) and photos are in order. I filled her full of "gas"(sic), for the first time the other day and she squeezed in $190. I don't know what that is about but the needle still hasn't dropped from full. Good news so far.

I have taken my first picture which I will upload soon.

Hi fman,

Ill take more notice next time I'm at the servo and post it here, but it was over 170 for 95. I was just above empty when I fuelled up and I think I managed over 110lt, which is great for up here as there is nothing for miles except anthills and dust.

When I first drove up from Perth it was 130 for 91, but as i crept further north, i saw it as high a 167. That was 4 years ago. These days I don't really take much notice as Im not really spoilt for choice. Because of my location, retailers like to hit us with "special fees".

Love your part of the world btw. My dads family are all from there and still many remain.

 Cheers!
