jhamelin819
so after doing a pre winter inspection on my 97 r50 lastnight (wheel bearings, brakes ect) i discovered that one of the bolts that connects the passenger side cv axle to the front diff was missing the head. the threads are still in there..... is there anyway to replace the plate containing the threads, or has anyone ever had a similar issue? Trogdor636
I think you are going to have to drill it out.

A left handed drill bit is a good start.

Trogdor636
That's why I'd start with a left hand drill bit. And lots of PB Blaster.
adamzan
You could try welding a nut to it and see if it will turn out, if you have access to a welder. That has worked for me on a few things.
XPLORx4
If the bolt is broken flush with the diff flange, you might need to drill it out. If it's broken flush with the CV axle flange, you should be able to remove the CV axle, and then use vise-grips on what's left of the bolt. Alternatively, if there's room, you can use a dremel tool to cut a slot into what's left of the bolt and then try to unscrew it with a flat screwdriver.
