Ishikawa91
I am removing the steering knuckle from my '96 Pathfinder. I have removing everything aside from one last thing. There is a wire that plugs into the back of the knuckle. Does anyone know what this is exactly or how to get it off? Its a pretty fat rubber "boot" that is completely stuck. I have tried wiggling and yanking but its on there pretty tight. I will try to post a picture tonight or tomorrow. I checked the FSM but it didn't mention anything for the steering knuckle. Slartibartfast
The '03 FSM shows an ABS sensor in the knuckle, which I would imagine is the same on the '96. As far as getting it off, I'm no help.
ferrariowner123
It's should be an abs sensor, and I believe there is a hex head bolt of some sort holding it in place.
Ishikawa91
Thanks guys! It was the ABS sensor. Found it easier to just unplug the clip instead of removing it. The clip was right behind the spring bolted to the inner wheel well. Does anyone know if I need to remove the stabilizer bar to remove the sway bar links? Mine are completely shot and I thought I might as well change them since I've got everything off already.
Slartibartfast
I didn't have to on my 95, dunno about the 96+ though. I went ahead and pulled out the sway bar anyway just to grease the bushings between it and the frame (I suspected them of squeaking).
ferrariowner123
Nope, no need to remove the sway bar to remove the links, i changed mine, just had the front of the car up in the air and impact gun. (depending on the style of links you have, the gun may or may not be necessary) -Kyle
