AzZo
My 95 pathfinder has an automatic transmission. And on the bottom of the transmission pan is what looks like a drain bolt like you see on the oil pan.Is this normal for draining tran's fluid as I thought you had to drop the entire pan to change the trans fluid. If I unscrew it will it screw back on tight? I am afraid to even touch it.Could it have been installed at one of those ten minute oil changing shops that also do trans fluid? Or does anybody know if this is a stock thing. adamzan
Its stock. And yea you drain the pan that way. Always a good idea if you never done it.
Precise1
x2 no need to touch the pan unless you want to clean things out. Another nice thing to do it to verify the level before hand, then drain it all into a pan or bucket (only about 1/2 will come out), measure the amount that was drained, and then put in exactly that much new fluid. B (after re-installing the drain plug of course)
nismothunder
Use tape on the threads if your afraid of leaking. All have that plug. Most trucks acutally have that and most cars don't for some reason.
Towncivilian
Actually, there is a drain plug crush washer which is supposed to be replaced every time the plug is removed. That will prevent any leaks by itself.
