WyKi
Hey guys, My uncle decided that he's going to junk his 88, now what I want to do is take his 4x4 components and put it on my 91 2wd, I assume everything is bolt on, right? having both of them next to each other. And knowing that his trans. is buggered out..well I'd need a good trans to connect his transfer to. Is it possible? I know that the 4x4 system is in good conditions as I've driven it and it engages smoothly and everything. Just that his trans is stuffed and he doesnt want to work on the truck anylonger... it really sucks thinking/knowing that he wants to trash it. Slartibartfast
From what I've read, it's all pretty much bolt on, except that the 2WD trans (AFAIK) won't accept the transfer case. You need a trans built for 4x4. You could rebuild the transmission in his, but then you might as well keep his, part out your Roadfinder and save yourself a lot of wrenching (depending on what else his needs). Kyle94
2wd tranny doesn't come apart in the right way to mate the transfer case... better off just finding a 4x4 pathy or keeping his. unless you feel like taking on the project of swapping all that 4x4 stuff on it. I looked into on my 2wd 720 i had..... a lot of stuff comes into play. lol
WyKi
I've actually have thought about it, Y'know keeping it. But Having 2 trucks its gonna be a little had on the wallet. Gas prices here are at the moment 92cents the quart, and the govenor said that gas prices will go up in the next two months by 300% so... that really sucks. Being that his is a 3 speed Aut. I'll be better off getting a 5speed Man. trans right?
Kyle94
...... fix the 2dr 4x4 if you want it. Sell the 2wd. lol. no need to pay for gas in two trucks? or just don't drive one of them. if you want to convert it to 5spd... go ahead. other wise you could just replace or rebuild the auto. his is a 3 speed auto? 88 should have the 4 speed auto with overdrive?? Kingman
From his last thread he said the truck was an '87. Now he says its an '88 and if it is, its a 4-speed. Can put any transmission in from '88-01 Pathfinders or any VG33 Xterra or Frontier.
