E-Brake Light

My e-brake light or hand brake light, seems to stay on after being disengaged. I tried pulling it up and letting it back down, but it seems to only work some of the time. And when it does shut off, it seems like a jerk when I accelerate or a bumb on the road can trigger it to light back up again.

Anyone have a solution or have the problem occur with their rigs. It just started a week ago.

While we're on the topic of the brake light, does anyone else have to top off

the brake fluid reservoir every six months or so?

My light comes on about that often and I have to add no more than 1/2 inch of

brake fluid to get the light off again.

I'm assuming there's a slow leak somewhere, but I am curious to see if anyone

else has this issue...

now someone correct me if I am straying the wrong way...

Overtime, as your pads wear, there will be more fluid in the brake lines/system (as there is further for the brake to go), and hence your reservoir will not be as full...

At the time that I added my brake fluid, my brake fluid was just below the minimum mark. I added about the same ammount if not, more.

I use my fluid as to guage pad wear on my 95SE (4 wheel discs). When I put new pads on, I make sure it's filled right to the top, and I check it as I put more miles on the vehicle. If it's staying high, I know my pads are still okay. This, though, is granted that I know I have no leaks in my braking system.

One place to look for the leak is the rear drums. The wheel cylinders there could leak slowly and you'd never see the fluid, unless you took the drums apart. I had the same thing happen on my old car, and couldn't figure out where the leak was coming from until I had to replace the shoes in the back.
