Fast blinker (like bulb is out), but none are

I am getting a fast blinker sometimes on my 01 Pathfinder. When this happens both left and right blinkers are affected but none of the bulbs are out. I don't think it is a problem with water since it hasn't rained in days and it happened tonight. The car does not have any trailer light connectors. When this occurs, the blinker fixes itself pretty quickly. Anyone experienced this before?

You mean you don't like the ricer-style ultra-fast blinkers?

perhaps the wrong grade of blinker fluid? When was the last time you changed it?

It sounds like a bad relay switch to me. It will probably burn its self out and you will have to replace it. I think they are under $5.00, but being a Nissan it will probably be more like$50.00. Anyone else got an idea?

Good idea on the relay. What exactly makes the blinker blink faster when a bulb is out? Is it the relay that allows this to happen? If so that has to be the problem unless there are some serious wiring issues.

I think it might blink faster because there's less resistance when the fillament in the bulb is gone. Someone told me that or I heared it in a dream or something...

Yup. There's less of an electrical load on the flasher, so it flashes faster. I'd replace the flasher. It's under the dash next to the fuse box. Little round dealie with two or three prongs coming out of it.
