  1. The driver's side power seat in my 01 Pathfinder recently stopping moving forward/backward. I think it wore out because of the automatic movement that occurs when I put the key in/out. The kit to replace the motor and slide assembly is around $200 online. Here is a link to the TSB which shows how to perform the repair: http://maxima.theowensfamily.com/tsb/NTB02-001c.pdf The TSB is actually for a Maxima but the steps and parts numbers listed at the end of the TSB are the same. I ordered the part from David House at Couresty Nissan (www.courtesyparts.com) and he was a great help - he is the one that found the TSB for me. I just performed the repair this afternoon and now everything works great. Hopefully this info can help someone else who has this problem!
  2. I need to replace a set of tires on a 2001 Pathfinder. I know the stock size is 255/65 but can you go a size wider? I know people do that frequently with car tires but I wasn't sure about SUV's. Also, does anyone have any good tire recommendations? Its not 4x4 so I just need a good highway tire. The tires on there now are Yoko Geolanders and I have been pretty happy with them.
  3. I finally got around to taking the drums off today. The bolt I used to get the drums off was a M8-1.25x30 - it worked great. Once I got the drum off the shoes were hardly worn at all. If I had to guess I would say maybe 1/4 worn. The car has exactly 60k on it too. I just cleaned everything with brake parts cleaner and will see if I still get a squeal at low speed when they are cold. Thanks for all the help - replacing the shoes doesn't look too hard once you get the drum off.
  4. I'm actually over 100 miles from the owners manual of the Pathfinder right now and will not see it until I need to do the work. Plus I need to order parts soon. I will definitely do the air filter as well but what about the belts?
  5. What should be changed at 60k on an 01 Pathfinder? I know oil/filter and I had the tranny flushed recently but what else. I read the spark plugs are good until 105k. I am going to replace the fuel filter as well. Should the belts be replaced or just checked? I read on CourtesyParts.com that they recommend replacing the belts every 30k and these have never been replaced. I did a 60k tuneup on my Maxima and I replaced the PCV valve just for preventive maintance - is that smart?
  6. What about wear - should the rear pads need replacing before 60k? Can I take the drum off and see the pad without removing all the springs/clips/etc? Anyone know the bolt size for an 01?
  7. I would say I am pretty handy with cars and have changed more disc brake pads than I can count but I have never messed with drum brakes before. My family has two 01 Pathfinders, both of which have roughly 56k on them. The front brakes on both were just replaced - I believe for the first time. The rear brakes make a squeal every now and then, mainly when they are cold in the morning. This got me thinking: how long do drum brakes usually last, how hard are they to change, and should this be something I could do myself? Is there any way to see how much pad is left without taking the drum apart? Also, if anyone has a how-to or pictures of a rear brake change I would love to see them!
  8. UPDATE: An identical part has been found on my dad's new 05 Frontier Crew Cab (sweet truck by the way). I will be posting pics later to show how it is attached. It is definitely an exhaust vibration isolator. How much should someone charge to weld it back on again?
  9. Has anyone found this stuff at a US dealer? When I call around I get an invalid part number and they try to sell me some other stuff. They say its the only silicon lubricant they have - think its the same stuff?
  10. Thank you so much for getting the part number. That is not what my local dealer had. I will post an update when I finally get it and try it on the car. Thanks again!
  11. Just in case I ever need a good service guy, what was his name? The Maxima in my signiture came from Crown and my family has 2 other Nissans - never know when a strange problem might occur. As a matter of fact, I was out there this morning getting an oil filter for my Maxima. Good luck getting it fixed!
  12. I just came from the dealership and the only can they had just said lubricant on it and was $14. I didn't buy it because the parts guy said the shop area buys their own stuff and may use something different. Runnerman, do you have a picture or exact name of the stuff? Thanks!
  13. I tried silicon spray and it did not help. I have gotten a couple different kinds of lube on the glass and it is HORRIBLE trying to get it off. I ended up using paint thinner and it finally came off. Be VERY careful where you put stuff.
  14. from a fellow .org member. Glad they fixed everything and took responsibility for their error. Thats why I do everything I can myself.
  15. Anyone have a part number on this spray? My sisters PF does this and I tried EVERYTHING to fix it. I even bought a new seal (waste of $100) that goes around the window. The door has been apart about 5 times now. If I can fix it with a spray can I will be extremely happy and angry at the same time!
  16. http://www.xmfan.com/viewtopic.php?t=20338 He put ROADY into his 03 - the ROADY2 has a built in modulator so you wouldn't have to use the cassette adapter. I guess you could put the SKIFI there too.
  17. Sorry man but I think you are WAYYYYY off if you are dissing XM (or Sirius) Radio. I have XM and absolutely love it - both of my roomates have also added it since listening to mine over the last semester. One of them just got it earlier this week in his Tacoma and he bought the Roady2 - findmypath, I would say return the SKIFI2 and get the Roady2. My roomate got it for $100 at Wal-Mart.com. It is much smaller than the SKIFI2 so you could mount it down by the shifter. I know of a perfect spot on my 01 but I think the console changed with 02+. Either way the ROADY comes with a nice mounting system that could stick onto anything. It also has a built in FM modulator (not sure about the SKIFI2). Just my $.02
  18. I have an 01 Pathfinder that burns oil as well. My problem is not as serious as yours but I was going through synthetic at 45k like none other. I switched back to dino and only burned .75 quarts in 4k miles. Does the VQ recommend 10W30 and 5W30? Isn't 5W30 thinner and would lead to more consumption? I have been putting 10W30 in mine but I live in the South where cold weather isn't a big deal.
  19. Good idea on the relay. What exactly makes the blinker blink faster when a bulb is out? Is it the relay that allows this to happen? If so that has to be the problem unless there are some serious wiring issues.
  20. I am getting a fast blinker sometimes on my 01 Pathfinder. When this happens both left and right blinkers are affected but none of the bulbs are out. I don't think it is a problem with water since it hasn't rained in days and it happened tonight. The car does not have any trailer light connectors. When this occurs, the blinker fixes itself pretty quickly. Anyone experienced this before?
  21. If I were you I would just go to a shop and pay a tech $10 to break it loose. That is what I did to get a bolt loose on my Maxima's suspension. This was after I spent an entire day working on it, breaking 2 Craftsman ratchets and 1 socket. A shop got it off in 30 sec with air tools.
  22. I bet you are right about the leaf thing. The car is parked outside and it constantly has leaves/pine straw building up where the a/c air intake is. Where do these leaves build up? I replaced the in-cabin microfilter a while back - is the fan assembly in there?
  23. The A/C fan is making noise on my 01 Pathfinder. It started months ago but it would only make a noise when I was hard on the brakes. Now its a constant sound. It is not related to the compressor. It gets louder when going from fan speed 1 to 2. The car has auto climate control. Any suggestions as to how to fix it? Its rather annoying.
  24. Update: I put regular oil at my last oil change and have gone 4800 miles. I changed it today and it burned 3/4 quart. Is this something I should be worried about?
  25. I wish I had sold that one while it was working. A remanufactured changer sold today on e-Bay for $550!!! Nissan wants $1200 for a replacement or they can send it off for 4-6 weeks and have it fixed for ~$250. How the hell is this thing so valuable!!!
